Political Frailty

Recommended Posts

Wikipedia is frantically searching news about Burmese prime Minister Tun Tin (1920), as I learn reading this discussion. If some of you finds something post 2010 about him (possibly an obit) I will report it to them. I also presume you have nothing else to do in your life if you really do that.

Thanks Thatcher, I saw the news and, again, thought of updating that old list. There are actually quite a few people on it who have died in the meantime. That Daily Mail obit surprised me!

1. Ronald Atkins (b. 1916)

(Lord Carrington, Lord Chalfont)

2. Sir Patrick Duffy (b. 1920)

3. Michael Shaw, Baron Shaw (b. 1920)

The three oldest living MPs now. Atkins has a considerable lead in gold position now.

Why are Lord Carrington and Lord Chalfont's names there? Neither of them were MPs !

They are in order of Cabinet/parliamentarians but you'll note neither is ranked, hence the bracket. Carrington's a popular name for deadpools round here so the age perspective was useful, or summat.

I definitely think Douglas Hurd should be on the list next year. Not been seen in public for nearly two years.Retired from the Lords last year had a stroke in 2010 and said he would be dead in ten years four years ago. Also will be 88 next year.

Watching BBC Parliament and in a committee Lord Brennan QC of Labour sounds as though he has throat or lung cancer or perhaps emphysema. He has a  very trembling and high pitched voice like Lord McAlpine's was in his final years. He also twice fell ill in the chamber with heart issues. The first time he was given a heart massage in the chamber and the second time he was fitted with a pacemaker. Both these emergencies happened in 2007.

Don't know why, but coming here I expected to see George P. Shultz was dead. But, unless he was also known as Piers DIxon in Britain, that is bullshit.

Teresa Pearce is set to resign as Shadow Communities and Local Government Secretary.Apparently it isnt because Labour are predicted to do terribly but that she was only filling in for Grahame Morris who has lymphatic cancer.Apparently he wont be back for the forseeable.

Good grief. Jeremy Corbyn has changed his shadow cabinet more often than some people change their underwear !

Four-term former state Sen. George E. Snyder died Wednesday in Boone, N.C. He was 88.
Born in Hagerstown on Jan. 12, 1929, Snyder was first elected to the Maryland Senate in 1958 at the age of 29.
He was a wholesale ice-cream and soft-pretzel distributor through a company he founded in 1948. Snyder is credited for being one of the first to freeze pretzel dough for sale to consumers, and one of the first to market ice cream in a half-gallon container.
