This church has been taken over by the Society of St. Pius X, a traditionalist fraternity of priests who opposed teh Second Vatican Council and eventually got excommunicated for ordinating bishops of their choosing. There's plenty of unsavoury stuff like Holocaust denialism in their ranks, abuse allegations go without saying, and generally they're close to parties like the Front National in France. The church has been occupied by them since the 80s and remains so till today; French authorities haven't intervened so far on grounds on best keeping the peace that way (?). I happen to know a family close to the Pius brothers, preferring to attend the old-style Tridentine mass. It seems though that over the last one or two years they've come to the conclusion that they're indeed a bit icky and now have sought out priests of the Fraternity of Saint Peter, essentially Pius defectors who eventually submitted to Rome in exchange for privileges such as the right to hold mass in Latin. Ahah it's funny that you talk about St Nicolas du Chardonnet ! I live at ten minutes from this church in the Quartier Latin, and each time that i come back from the gay Marais, and that I pass in front of the church I feel very funny by thinking that I am the devil for traditionalist who go in this church !

Lafaucheuse 4,013 Posted October 19, 2023 New rumors about his health on social media apparently (though I can’t find any) but his right arm debunks everything telling he’s fine weird that I don’t see any health rumors…

Bestparolanto 36 Posted April 3 Repost here from the "The Dead of 2024" thread : Quote Jean-Marie Le Pen (95 yo) "under legal protection, after a medical expertise" said a RN (far-right party) official. "According to several of those close to him, Jean-Marie Le Pen's health has declined significantly since a heart attack in April 2023." The imminence of a future trial can also play a role ? Who are we to judge? The Old Crem 3,576 Posted April 26 I can’t see him dying anytime soon as his daughter has a chance of being France’s PM later this year if the government collapses and early parliamentary elections are held and a Cohabitation government with President Macron has to be held.

La Tombe 352 Posted April 26 Le Pen is strong in the polls because the French politicians from all parties have been so bad once they were in power and that's for many years now, that now the French turn to the the only one party still never been in power and that's the National Rally, ex National Front the party of Marine Le Pen. Just for fuck sake make sure you don’t Frexit. Use the UK as an example of how utterly disastrous that’d be.

Worse for the EU by a factor of about 100 though. Both from a single market (particularly freedom of movement, as it would isolate Spain and Portugal) and funding perspective. The Old Crem 3,576 Posted June 9 Snap election in France on a June 30th/July 7th Marine Le Pen might be prime Minster by Bastile Day on current polls. I have a feeling her dad might then die just after she becomes PM (or the power behind a proxy PM).

Jonah 180 Posted June 20 Here's a video of him reacting to the results of the recent 2024 European Parliament election, with a cane by his side: https://www.tiktok.com/@tenqofficiel/video/7379340011071622432. Seeing Jordan Bardella's score being more than twice as high as Macron's representative, he says "Dans l'cul, Lulu" (basically "up your ass" in response to Macron's heavy defeat). Here's also a tweet with a picture apparently taken on his birthday: https://x.com/Baudouin_wissel/status/1803754264767984073. And here's another recent picture I was able to find: https://x.com/55Bellechasse/status/1803776122720493772.
