Sean 6,315 Posted June 9, 2017 This could be a short one. Will be more significant though as by-elections have suddenly become much much more significant!Shame Winnick has gone from a by election bingo perspective! He and Salmond are the oly ones on my old list to lose their seats I think. Phantom 2,533 Posted June 10, 2017 We could be looking at another general election fairly soon. I can't see Theresa May lasting much longer.
Sean 6,315 Posted June 10, 2017 The Tories would resist any attempt at an early election. To lose to Corbyn would tear the party apart probably forever. Also no one wants to go down as the Tory PM who loses to Jeremy Corbyn.
Sean 6,315 Posted June 10, 2017 Or May could just snap under the stress say fuck it and resign.

maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted June 10, 2017 Aye, I'm with some of the above. Basically clueless where the health and long-term prospects of many of these parliamentarians are concerned. I'd doubt anyone will get shunted to the Lords quickly given the tense numbers game in the commons and this game could be won on one or two scoring picks before we re-convene in October. They may be looking to form a coalition with the DUP, but May is getting calls from all sides to resign. I would wager that in a couple of months they'll push a vote of no confidence and oust her which then leads to a leadership race and quite possibly another general election. Especially if when the next by-election comes round and the Tories lose even more marginal seats.

msc 18,439 Posted June 10, 2017 You've got till June 30, going by the OP. Might be able to squeeze a decent game out - David Butler says 8 months tops this parliament should last, and the 1974 parliament still managed to squeeze in a by-election.

the_engineer 1,415 Posted June 11, 2017 So Theresa may is running a minority govt with backing of DUP on a issue to issue basis. Honestly there will be another election within a year with Theresa out by Christmas. Minority govts don't last because nothing can ever get done and the manifesto can rarely be implemented. Its looks like a repeat of 1974 . I honestly think we could get a vote of no confidence against Theresa may corbyn is bold enough to try it.
