Toast 16,129 Posted June 14, 2017 Major looked pretty spry in a recent photo. He looks much healthier than Bliar.
Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted June 14, 2017 Just had a brief look and saw that no UK PM has died in office since 1865. You are well and truly overdue for another one. (We had three in the 20th Century. Probably because we are a bunch of unhealthy twats.)
msc 18,436 Posted June 14, 2017 You had Harold Holt!
Sean 6,311 Posted June 14, 2017 Who was the last cabinet minister died whilst in post?

Maybe you guys could take a lesson from Holt and encourage May to take swimming lessons instead of running through wheat fields.
Grim Up North 3,725 Posted June 14, 2017 The last significant UK MP I can remember dying whilst in a major role is John Smith and that's 23 years ago.
Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted June 14, 2017 Last deaths while in office in one of the great offices of state: Chancellor of the Exchequer: Iain Macleod (1970) Foreign secretary: Anthony Crosland (1977) No Home Secretary has ever died in office.
Deathray 2,940 Posted June 14, 2017 To be honest it's going to be a long time before any past PMs die. May is time limited to 2022 at the latest as she'll never be allowed to fight another election. John Major is 74 and healthy Tony Blair is 64 and healthy Gordon Brown is 66 and healthy David Cameron is 50 and healthy Theresa May is 60 and healthy The likelihood is a new PM before the next election and a new one after it. Could be quite the queue of old prime ministers by the end of it all
Sean 6,311 Posted June 14, 2017 Next Prime minister will most likely be Corbyn Johnson or Gove.

I'm thinking Johnson will be next and I'm unsure on who would win in Johnson vs Corbyn: The 2022 Election, though I'm leaning towards Corbyn. I'm not even sure Corbyn will still be Labour Leader by that stage as he'll be in his mid 70's (pretty old to lead a party into an election) and both of his parents died in their 70's. I'm thinking the same but Johnson instead of gove. I think corbyn will be prime minister but in a coalition with lib dems and SNP.

msc 18,436 Posted June 15, 2017 Nah, Cook rather famously resigned over Iraq. Back bencher when he died, had been tipped for high office in a Brown government (despite those 2 being a bit Tom and Jerry).
Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted June 15, 2017 Fun fact: between 1804 and 1827, there were six Leaders of the House. Five of them died in office.Viscount Howick was the only one who made it out of the post alive.

YoungWillz 21,024 Posted July 8, 2018 State sponsored murder on our soil is an act of war. Now the ultimate test of our inglorious leader. Will she get her arse down to Amesbury? Will she take Trump with her when he visits this week, instead of shaking hands and sitting down to banquets with Her Maj? Will she recall the footie team from Russia (not that she has any entitlement to do that)? And does anyone really understand her Brexit deal that isn't....or is it...? Whatcha gonna do, Tezza? Send Amber Rudd Sajid Javid David Lidington (perm any one from several others) to do the job you so eagerly sought?

YoungWillz 21,024 Posted July 9, 2018 Davis? The very guy in charge of Brexit? One of the few Tories you could possibly trust? Honourable departure. Now Tezza's Government is officially a shambles...
CoffinLodger 1,248 Posted July 9, 2018 Oh well at least Theresa May looked a bit strong and stable for an entire weekend. It's more than we ever expected !
philheybrookbay 439 Posted July 9, 2018 It’s just a mess. Hard or soft exit, the Tories cannot stop this bloody infighting. Will Boris Johnson last the day in post? Probably as he’s awaiting Mays demise to pounce. As for Gove? A weasel. A total cockwomble.
