Can’t say I’m doing as well at the moment. 12 rejected names in round 1. Fun times...

Well, only ended in a total of 15 names rejected. Not bad. Not bad at all...

Sent my list in on Tuesday as I knew I'd be away until the 30th and be busy with other stuff.  Four rejected picks only this time. (Maybe I didn't try hard enough.)  Will reveal them next week. Four replacement picks accepted last night.

Sent my list in today.  Only had to replace three!

I understand alt.obituaries deadpool specifies one list per person.

Has anyone changed their list after submission but before deadline WITHOUT prompting by the alt.obituaries deadpool committee to replace a pick? Was the changed list accepted by the committee without quibble/squabble/histrionics?

I haven’t bothered personally. Pretty sure once the list is set, it’s set barring deaths. I did have to replace Hector Timerman last year after him being accepted, but that’s because he died.

Yes, if I was that bothered about it I'd send in the new list via a different email address using my dog's a different name.

Okay, team is in. First round was 10 rejections. Second round went through. Still a little of that "How did that person get through... and why did that person get rejected" but I am okay with it.

Good luck everyone!

I only had one rejection, which speaks to my lack of imagination.  He knocked back the Duchess of Kent, which I found rather surprising, but I suppose Americans wouldn't know her, especially since she stopped going to Wimbledon.

@Toast, I'm American and I know her.  I had her husband on my list for last year.

That's a surprise and a half.

None of my four rejections are at all surprising (2 were blatant chancing arm on the off chance). Some of the names I got accepted (all notable in their fields of course) are nowhere near the Duchess of Kents fame level.

He probably doesn't realise who she is, maybe thinks she's just an obscure distant royal.  Actually her Wikipedia page virtually ignores her association with Wimbledon, and that's where most people would have recognised her from.

UPDATE - He's been back in touch to say he's reconsidered, and I can keep her if I want.  I declined, as I had replaced her with someone younger (who I had thought less well-known, but was accepted).

I'll never do well because I don't know enough international people to consider.  My list is very US/European-centric, with names basically everyone in the Minnesota backwoods would know.  BUT if a bad batch of heroin goes out and decimates rapper/music youth, I may have a shot of getting out of the bottom quarter of the list.

Thank goodness I have no ego on the line with the Deadpool, or I'd be disappointed all year long.  I just have fun playing the game.  (It's just an honor to be nominated...")

Good luck to all for the 2020 AO Deadpool. As with last year, I'm keeping my list to myself while revealing the rejected picks from the initial list submitted.  There were four of them for 2020.  They were:

1) Derek Aucoin

2) Levi Holley

3) Jeremy Marshall

4) Sabrina Sultana

Of last year's 13 rejected picks from the initial list submitted, 7 did die.  Also, 1 of 2 rejected replacement picks are no long breathing as of the start of this year.

I'm not shy either.   Don't see the point of secrecy after the game has started.

I gave most of last year's under-performers another chance.  Ideally I would have weeded out the over-80s, but it would have been too much effort at a busy time to find enough replacements who were likely to be acceptable

6ix9ine is a great pick!!  I don't think he'll last long in prison as a known snitch.

THIS is how someone from Detroit deals with that asshole.

________
”Hi ... Welcome back. I think we may have some different ideas about what a "questionable at all" pick is.

Please send replacements for the following picks: Allen, Bayh, Bilton, Downing, Grey, Noble, Sutherland, Wilkinson, and Zeno.”

_________
“You need 9 replacements.

I’m not sending a replacement for Lee Zeno.  He is Buckwheat Zydeco’s bass player and a Grammy winner.  I’d rather not play (or play 1 down) than to capitulate to that.  Anyone who has won a Grammy has risen to the top of their craft.
In fact I’ll double down.
Joe Henry (Grammy winner, Christian music category)”

LMAO screw him.  SC 1, loser 0.
