Only The Independent gave Lara a proper obituary in the end. She remains languishing in the List of the Lost and loses the chance to be (possibly?) the first Eritrean to be a successful pick. Personally, I agree that the Indy's exclusion as a DDP obit source deserves a rethink for 2019, because paper is on the way out and they give obits to interesting people.
Joey Russ 7,255 Posted August 7, 2018 That is the third person who lost out on a DDP obit due to the Indy not counting this year afaik. The other two are Claribel Alegria and TJS pick Cynthia Heimel. They do seem a bit more click baity nowadays, but I’ll let Spade be the judge of that...

Spade_Cooley 9,601 Posted August 18, 2018 Saw that Rita Borsellino, brother of Paolo and anti-Mafia campaigner, died earlier this week, and reading the Italian press seems like it was out there that she was in the final stages of stage 4 cancer. She'd been profiled in QO publications before, but no signs of a valid obit just yet.

drol 12,085 Posted September 13, 2018 Poet and journalist Guido Ceronetti has died aged 91. Complete nutshell during the last part of his life, his articles had no whatsoever sense. Anyway he was a spirited author for most of his career and often went against colleagues and predominating culture.

gcreptile 11,039 Posted November 26, 2018 I see... a butter reference has already been made... Anyway, I considered him as part of the "Italian glut" - which I thought we have had, and which now might be starting to dissolve. Morricone, Napolitano, Berlusconi. Edit: Camilleri, too.
