All Whites player Grant Turner has died of cancer, managed to get a few more months after fearing to die last summer:

He was important for the qualification for the 1982 World Cup, but didn't play in the tournament because of injury.

It’s Cup time, meaning Sir Creep’s joker always dies a day before they’re needed.

I’m sure others had him on the radar; former NZ MP Chester Borrows died earlier today after battling terminal big C.

A spate of recent deaths down in NZ, unfortunately none of them from my Theme Team of New Zealanders, although it''s coming up to autumn/winter time down there so maybe soon.

Drat. I originally had her in my New Zealanders team but decided to relegate her to subs bench, condolences etc.

Kara Puketapu has died aged 89. He served as Secretary of Maori Affairs, played rugby for the New Zealand Maori team and also did some coaching in rugby league
