Death Impends 7,957 Posted January 1, 2020 TJS for 2020: Chris Doleman (JOKER) John Andretti Frankie Banali Susan Bayh Jimmy Carter David Gulpilil Lars Hogh Terry Jones John Lewis Genesis P-Orridge Gavin Robertson Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman Yoo Sang-chul Roger Scruton Ronald J. Shurer Pat Smullen Belinda Sykes Alex Trebek Gianluca Vialli Rachel Zoll SUBS: Jana Bennett, Tom Smith, Tim Bilton Now that I seem to have finally won, my primary goal in the DDP is to get a hit with a US President. I talked myself out of Bush Sr for years, and when I finally convinced myself to pick him, he died weeks later and I was kicking myself for days! And so Carter will dutifully be on my team for the rest of his life. It is admittedly good timing that the likely win coincides with Carter showing his first signs of mortality since his cancer battle.

msc 18,437 Posted January 1, 2020 Different types of brain cancer, though. Neuromas and low grades are common and easily treatable but sound scary - think Nick Boles as one example. Oligodendrogliomas (yeah of course I googled the name) are the incurable but treatables folk can have for decades like Sarah May Philo. Then you have various forms of astrocytoma, the smallest of which can be treated, but the largest of which is the notorious Glioblastoma, which is cureless and swift. And any astrocytoma can turn into Glio at any time, basically. Doleman has Glioblastoma and has done since early 2018. He is very lucky to have reached this far but his time is running out. RadGuy 1,614 Posted January 1, 2020 Here is To Kill A Gabor Sister 2020. 1. Genesis P-Orridge (JOKER) 2. John Andretti 3. Daniel Arap Moi 4. Frankie Banali 5. Susan Bayh 6. Chris Doleman 7. Maggie Griffin - mom of Kathy Griffin 8. David Gulpilil 9. Lars Hogh 10. Terry Jones 11. Lee Kerslake 12. Michael Robinson 13. Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Said of Oman 14. Yoo Sang-Chul 15. Roger Scruton 16. Doug Supernaw 17. Bernard Tapie 18. Peter Tobin 19. Alex Trebek 20. Gianluca Vialli I'm not gonna make any dramatic claims like ''this is my last year playing the DDP'' but this very well may be my last semi-competitive entry. I've certainly started to lose interest in deadpooling and I couldn't bring myself to do much research. However, I did pull myself together in the final days of 2019, so I don't think I'll completely embarrass myself with this team.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted January 1, 2020 Everyone piling on Roger Scruton. He was on long list but cut quickly. What am I missing? * off to figure it out* Something fishy. News broke last three days?? EDIT: OK THAT guy. Salman Rushdie Light. He ain’t dying. And won’t be killed. Still don’t see it. Just googled. Feel free to straighten me out, cuz I’m drinking and in the mood to mock 10% of DDP teams all at once. SC

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted January 1, 2020 I don’t espouse to ‘looks frail’ as a basis of anything. I know it’s proven to work a few times. I’ll take me chances.

Paraphrasing the shits own article, but before Christmas he announced he'd been given a week to live with Stage IV cancer in July without treatment, and that the treatment since hadn't gone as well to plan as hoped. Death Impends 7,957 Posted January 1, 2020 The annual "looks like shite" picks for the three years prior were Wetton, Mark E. Smith, and McCririck. I omitted all three, who all then promptly died. Not going to repeat that mistake with Scruton.

Death Impends 7,957 Posted January 1, 2020 McCririck and Smith were not even publicly known to have cancer until after their deaths, even if it could be reasonably guessed off appearance alone. If anything Scruton has less conjecture involved.
msc 18,437 Posted January 1, 2020 Of the teams announced so far, a dozen who seem to be ones to watch on paper as contenders (yes Willz, obligatory the DDP isn't won on paper reference here...) Joey and Clorox (who seem to be early favourites), Toast and Book who both look to have their best teams yet, Jireomon, Spade (well, duh?), Eesti, Chorizo, Rad, drol, Reptile and that chap DI. 1
Toast 16,129 Posted January 1, 2020 Hmm, I'm sure most of mine are goners, but not confident they'll all go this year. Glad I haven't stooped to jokering cancer brides.

gcreptile 10,964 Posted January 1, 2020 Well, David Stern is the first DDP hit of the year it seems, on my B-team, but for some reason, not on my Deathrace team. GUN is working hard on entering the late submitted teams. Then the scoring process begins.
