maryportfuncity 10,662 Posted April 28, 2022 There's so much standard news coverage on the porn-watching Tory I can't easily find a reliable online rumour mill naming him. Any, like, informed speculation available hereabouts? I'm assuming a fight to hold his seat and that his existing majority might well be big consideration at central office, and in Lib Dem minds! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-61245040

Brad252 809 Posted April 28, 2022 Tory MP Jamie Wallis, who recently made headlines for coming out as trans, has now been charged with failing to stop after an accident. If he is found guilty he could get a custodial sentence (max 6 months) that would trigger a recall petition: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-61256972

Johnson's reign of sleaze, lies and misconduct is earning itself a reputation as an era akin to Major's sleaze ridden, backhander loving epoch. Even a tory-loving shit-rag is on this as front page fodder. I'm thinking someone will name him, and like a certain ex-member of the territorial army the man's subsequent parliamentary career will be a pale shadow of owt that preceded it. The question pertinent to this thread is whether we're looking at a seat so safe it'd survive deselection and return another tory within the present parliament.

He should have left Parliament long ago after leaving that stupid note in the Treasury at the end of the 2010 election: 'Sorry, there's no money left'. Absolute open goal and the Tories haven't shut up about it for the decade since.

That note was a running joke between changes of government going back to ww2 at least. He would have had no idea Cameron would use a friendly tradition as attack fodder.

A fair point and maybe a suitable bit of karma the other way would involve random hoodie wearers these days approaching Cameron now he lacks PM security and, like, hugging him hard!

Yeah, "safe" - or "seismic" if all the opposition get tactical and the tories thereabouts get cynical. Still a big ask. If 9,000 Lib Dems held their noses and voted Labour and a load of disgruntled Conservatives failed to show it'd make a massive impact. Seriously, if they lost this one that'd probably do more damage to Bojo than Partygate ever could. I heard a rumour that one of the porn actresses he was ogling has commented that she feels sullied being associated with British parliamentary politics.

maryportfuncity 10,662 Posted April 30, 2022 Opened the porn by mistake, apparently. maryportfuncity 10,662 Posted April 30, 2022 4 minutes ago, Bibliogryphon said: North Shropshire was a safe seat Aye, we've had a chat earlier in this thread - basically if they lose after Parish's antics they're spaffing (heh heh) a seat where they polled over 60% of the votes in 2019 and Parish had performed at that leve through two previous general elections. Over a decade back it was safe tory with thinner margins, them polling 50% ish with the Lib Dems second. Labour have been runners up last two times, UKIP stormed to second in 2015. So, if the place was going to oust the Conservatives there's an almightly problem. Lib Dems and Labour might both see themselves as the obvious party to take it, so next to no chance they'll have a pact. Labour are clear second last two times, Lib Dems can legitimately argue they're better placed to take Conservative votes. It'll be interesting. Meanwhile, let us take our final chance to feast our eyes upon this cheesy presentation of a genial family man caring ably for his constituents - https://www.neilparish.co.uk/
Brad252 809 Posted April 30, 2022 At this rate we'll have had a de facto General Election by way of every seat being contested in a by-election.
