Absolutely the correct thing to do.

Been involved in cronyism and backhanders for his mates for years. Totally in it for himself and his pals (mostly nobs and knob ends).

Don't think I've disliked a current Tory MP as much apart from Mark Francois and Ministerial code breaker Priti Patel. Liz Truss and Andrea Leadsom are loathsome creatures....actually, I should never have started this list....

The reporter on the news just said "we're now facing 4 by-elections at either side of Christmas".

Southend West, Old Bexley & Sidcup and North Shropshire (all Conservative defences).

What's the fourth he's alluding to?

Rutherglen and Hamilton West?
Delyn?
Leicester East?

Ah, he was alluding to Leicester East.

Claudia Webbe MP is in court right now and is going to be sentenced today.

I  mean, seriously, all these ex-MPs up to their reproductive organs in corruption - even reality television can't find jobs for all of them, can it?

Hers wasn't really corruption-related. She harassed and bullied people, and threatened to throw acid over them.

He was on my by-election bingo list so he is a points scorer for me

This will probably be the most interesting by-election of the four

"During one phone call, Mr Thomas could be heard asking Webbe: "Are you mad?"

But Webbe said: "I'm not mad, I'm a member of parliament."

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and former shadow chancellor John McDonnell provided character statements to the court in which they respectively said she was a "person of good character" and an "honest, responsible and an extremely caring person".

Webbe entered the Commons in December 2019, winning the seat formerly held by Keith Vaz, the married Labour veteran who did not stand again after being suspended from parliament for "expressing willingness to buy cocaine for male prostitutes".

Webbe was a political adviser to then-London mayor Ken Livingstone."

Genuinely reads like a film plot.

She intends to appeal so a recall petition cannot happen until the appeal has been completed. This one has been kicked into the New Year I would suggest

North Shropshire:

At the last election Owen Paterson had over 60% of the vote

The seat had neve left Conservative hands

The low water mark was 1997 when Paterson stood for the first time. At that election which was a huge Labour landslide the Conservatives won with around 40% of the vote with a majority of less than 2200

Labour has been second in every elections since 1997 with the exception of 2010.

I've just realised his wife was the chairman of Aintree racecourse who topped herself last year.  The Grand National is currently sponsored by Randox which is one of the companies that's been paying him.  And also one of the companies paid multi-millions by the government for dodgy Covid testing kits.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/04/tory-linked-firm-involved-in-testing-failure-awarded-new-347m-covid-contract

It all stinks worse than the sewage they've allowed into our rivers.

I'm not claiming points btw, I just don't remember seeing it. If the points have been awarded to those who need them, fine, I know you were unwell at the time.

I'm an interested bystander, as I am in most pools this year. Don't worry about me.
