Can't find any records in the internet though, whether in transfermarkt or in Fortuna Koln's records. He's definitely bullshitting to some extent (no way does he have that number of caps for the full Afghan team, and if he played full internationals in England or Italy they'd be easily discoverable). However, there was an Abdul Ghafoor Sahebi who played for an Afghan outfit at a weird tournament in Pakistan in 1976. He probably did play as a youth international, maybe played for the B-team at Fortuna Koln or had trials, but the rest of his claims are just "bloke at the bar bullshitting".

A regular sight at CUFC home games for decades, very approachable and a popular figure around the city He's the statue outside the ground, so he'll always be remembered. Really sad, though he's 84 so this isn't exactly early onset
DoorSlammer 500 Posted June 10 Two Dutch names. These two are pretty big names domestically and former NT players: Pierre Vermeulen (wiki) has vascular dementia since 2022. Willy Dullens (wiki) has Alzheimer's since December 2021. Both of them were interviewed last December.

maryportfuncity 10,470 Posted September 12 Aye, this reminds me, there was a discussion in the pre-match pub before MK Dons gave Carlisle a lesson over 90 minutes a few weeks back. Firstly, with this being the 50th anniversary of our top flight season a few of the old squad have been trotted out and some - Les O'Neill, Bobby Owen, Tom Clarke, Peter McLachlin - are in impressively good shape. This observation soon morphed into a gleefully politically incorrect chat suggesting if only we'd been more willing to head the ball 50 years ago we might have avoided relegation (unlikely IMHO), secondly there was some discussion about what would happen if you took 22 dementia afflicted footballers, put them on a pitch and threw in a ball. An interesting idea, as it goes, because such treatments as make any difference to day to day lives are often about getting people behaving in familiar ways. Was reminded of this a couple of hours back seeing a guy being led about by a nurse and realising he was retracing the walk he used to do home from work to his house.
