Thoughts and Opinions on the 2021 Deathlist

Recommended Posts

Not really a fan of it to be honest. It has way too many people who are just old. They are some good picks here again (Ayatoliah,Ono and Lumbaugh) but it's mostly just very old people.

Tom Smith dropped. No James Whale, Carlos Menem , Larry King , Tom Parker, Sarah Harding.Very disappointing list.

Whale surprises me because he feels their type of pick.

Menem and the youngsters didn't.

This definitely feels like a more casual stroll after a record breaking year...

Whale is a big shock for the reason you stated.

Thought Menem would make it after Daniel Arap Moi.

Harding and Parker are as big as the Nolans just to a different generation.

The younger folk could've been a little refresher for the list. The Committe could've risk that in my opinion.

After all, Shannon Doherty is there.

Surprised Rob Burrow isn't on there given how quickly his condition has deteriorated in just a year.

Absolutely. No return for Newton John Jake the Snake or Larry King.I admit my shadowlist is half arsed but it is a lot better than the official DL.

No Gorbachev and No Menem. Both likely to be big misses for the list in 2021 IMO. Should have had one of them at least

Shannen Doherty is one of the only good editions to the list.

Larry King missed the list too and he's in his final days by the reports and family.

Any of those would probably have been a better pick than Burt Bacharach.

Burt Bacharach along with Betty Boothroyd are two of the healthiest nonogenarians I can think of.

Surprised not to see Sarah Harding or Tom Parker, or Olivia Newton John, but think it's a decent list - pleased to see Burt Bacharach on there.

It's an okay list. I'm just glad there's no Kirk Douglas, Vera Lynn, Olivia De Havilland, Javier Perez De Cuellar, Pierce Cardin, and Hosni Mubarak.

I find it highly amusing that Betty White and Dick Van Dyke (both in fine health and active) are in the top three and in positions higher than ailing picks like Bob Dole, Rush Limbaugh, Leslie Phillips etc.

Pleased to see Sidney Poitier, Pope Benedict and Vanessa Redgrave have all made it on, although they should be ranked higher, particularly Poitier. Surprised that David Attenborough and Desmond Tutu didn’t come back (good decisions by the Committee). Loretta Lynn, Emperor Akihito and Queen Elizabeth II ranked higher than expected.

Too many healthy nonagenarians have taken up precious spots this year (eg. Mel Brooks, Betty Boothroyd, Queen Elizabeth II, Burt Bacharach, Bernard Cribbins, Stanley Baxter).

Writing the DDP obit, Sean. I struggle with odd word layout. That son of Khrushchev was a nightmare!

Been a member on here 12 years and this is one of the most disappointing lists yet.

Genuinely very deflated by this. 10-12 hits here max.

Time to change the rules and let members who spend the entire year contributing on this Forum decide who features.
