John Kettley 49 Posted September 3, 2015 I'm a big Fairport fan too, seen them live a couple of times (and been flirted with by Simon and Peggy) but not made it to Cropredy yet. I'm hoping to get there next year for my 40th. Swarb has to be a potential with his past health problems though he seems to be doing ok now. I like the fact he took his premature obituary in good humour. DevonDeathTrip 2,358 Posted January 27, 2016 Health update on Dave Swarbrick. 25th January Dave is still going steadily. He is having some dialysis today to help his tired kidneys for a bit. He had this after the transplant in 2004. He is snoozing at the moment and all is in hand. Good to see Maart and Jan Allcock yesterday xx shame he didn't bring a guitar : ) Later : A much better day. On dialysis to help his tired kidneys and spells of breathing without help from the ventilator. He took drugs orally for first time rather than intravenously. Very, very tired, of course. He slept through most of the afternoon and then listened, smiling, to "Lion Rampant"* on my iphone. * A non-conventional folk reggae epic I really hope he pulls through. The prognosis doesn't sound that good. Sometime in July, aye. : "Dad suffered an ischemic stroke with hemorrhagic conversion. Every doctor who's looked at his chart is amazed that he survived. So, for that, we're truly grateful. "However, he has global aphasia, which makes it incredibly difficult to communicate and is, as you can imagine, very frustrating. His occupational therapist said she'd never before worked with someone with his level of aphasia. "He also has right-side paralysis and his doctor said he will probably never play the guitar again.
