Only two of us had him on the DDP, each of us denying the other that unique pick bonus. That'll be a whopping FOUR points when it's tallied, then

If needed I can get another update in this evening. After that I am on the road until Sunday evening, so no updates until Monday.

George Montague's points still need to be put into the system, as a heads up.

On it. Though I hate it when I don't have a precise place of death, but well, "United States" will have to do. No more time.

https://news.i-n24.com/entertainment/79712.html - does this count as QO?

I thought he was famous but it seems only specialist websites (oo er missus) agree with me.

No, sadly not. I'd say he seemed notable, though not exactly famous, but for a UK obit he needed that UK connection, BBC orchestra, LSO or something like that. Maaaaaybe he gets a mention at a year-end BBC round-up. But it is relatively unlikely.

My reasoning for not picking Tom Parker wasn’t anything about him being in a great state for treatment, it was more that in recent years there seems to be more and more glio cases lasting way past the 1.5 year mark, so I punted that given his age and seemingly improved treatments that seem to prolong life a bit longer he would see 2023. Called it wrong though and probably makes me out of the running for the DDP title. Still, all I care about is not doing as abysmal as last year…

Thought he’d do a Doleman. Didn’t.

I’m now 58th, so I’ve got more chance of plaiting my own piss than even getting a Top 20 this year.

Plaiting the piss - likely doable in an industrial freezer but it'd take a painful insertion to create the plaits before you start.

Let us know how you get on

Sounds like a future task on Taskmaster when it’s Series 43 and gone to shit.

He's the type of name I'd likely have overthought and dropped if I was still playing competitively. Instead he stayed. There's probably always going to be a hit or two for me like that each year.

You and me both, Parker's dropped me  to ninth - I'll out myself again here and admit I've been appaled at my generally lacklustre DDP campaigns, the only recent exception being when I pretty much scrambled a team over a  couple  of hours whilst trying to avoid office conversations. The plan this year was to pack the line up with bankable if low point fodder and pick astutely amongst the likely drop 40 candidates. The head of ISIS was a smart pick, avoiding Parker for the same reasons others did is likely to prove costly. A watershed moment in this year's competition for quite a few of us, I think.

Worth noting that not only does Spade now have a 21 point lead (in March!) but that if anyone lower than 4th place were to win this year now, it would be the biggest points comeback in DDP history.

Aye, and it'd take a near clean sweep of my remaining "talent" for that person to be me. I set out to come somewhere in the top 30, figuring I'd be chuffed anywhere from 25th or better. Still on the cards but fair play to Spade, hellishly good dead pooling.

Yeah I mean I'm in the top 7 in March and almost mathematically out of the running already (37 points behind, only 50 points available as differential from Spade, and he's got Deborah James likely to snuff it before too long too) - sometimes you just have to nod your head at someone's insanely good form.
