Sorry Di, the solo stuff just doesn't have the same spark Supremes does for me

I heartily agree.  Glad to see the back of this whiny cringey song.

Yeah, I listened to the ones I couldn't put a tune to on YouTube. Usually quickly followed by "Oh christ, not that one..."

It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better B)

Oh when it gets to 1972-73, I foresee 90% of my positive points going to Alice Cooper. There isn't a lot of other options, bar T. Rex, Slade and the Van der Valk theme.

Was just thinking that 72-73 is packed to the gills with utter dreck. There’s only two or three I can envisage giving points to, and I’m gonna have to apologise to Book for at least one of those :D

Usual withholding judgment for songs I've not heard yet caveat, but Cooper about the only one I'm already familiar with and really like. Whereas an uncomfortably high amount I already know as shite.

Easier to see why prog rock was popular when the alternative was Tie a Fuckin Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree (edit: Which will be getting -6 from me until it's gone).

Now that probably was Dawns most gut wrenching track ever.

Amazing Grace by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Band beats the shit out of both of them.

Amazing Grace was played at my grandad's funeral. Hearing it always brings me back to that day. Judy Collins had a good version in 1970, but like her Send in the Clowns, both reached the top 10 but not top spot.

(Incidentally, Judy is still alive, aged 83.)

And mine. It’s a very ‘burying grandad’ song.

I look upon the song fondly as a result, but sadly my nerves get shot to hell by bagpipes and other pungent noises like them.

All this reminds me why I detest Karaoke.

If you like the track - you don't want to hear it tunelessly slaughtered by tone-deaf drunks.

If you don't like the track - you don't want to hear it at all, whether rendered by tone-deaf drunks or not.

The very definition of lose lose.

Only 'probably'? I can assure you, you won't be the only one downvoting this! Looking at Dawn's charting singles, the ones that didn't get to number one are (IMO) a lot bit better than the ones that did (though a low bar, I grant you).

To be honest I had managed to successfully blank Dawn from my memory entirely until knock three times turned up - then you mentioned it wasn't their worst offering - prompting me to recall what was.

Without knowing their entire catalogue (and being too scared to actually look with 2/2 being amongst the most irritating songs in history) I couldn't be categorical and thus I settled on probably even if in all likelihood it was 'certainly'.

We have so much pain yet to come, I'm buggered if I'm trawling for unnecessary grief.

I look upon it fondly because it reminds me of the time we had it in church one Remembrance Sunday, accompanied only by the piper.

The congregation listened as he played the intro, then we joined in singing.

Alas! when we began singing the last verse we were accompanied by silence.

He hadn't played an intro ....
