Cross-posting Frank McDougall QO.

Back in December I decided that McDougall was less seriously ill than Frank McGarvey and so only picked the latter in the DDP.

I guess I was correct...by nine months! :D

Inspired write up for Dianne Feinstein!!! Cheered me up as a diversion from the procession of Voldemort Horcruxes at the Tory Conference.

"First Snow of the Season" great one :D

I must say I don't get most of the other titles…

" Jimmy Carter defies all odds and turns 99. Paging Mr. Sulu…"  the Sulu reference sent me !

Getting the September estimate in early as the obits have been coming in in an orderly fashion.

I figured a table will summarize how the recent estimate looks compared to previous ones.

Month Hits Predicted Total
September 24 299
August 26 296
July 24 292
Jan-June 161 290

Again it has crept up slightly (full details below).  For those of you wondering if 300 is possible, read on.

As of writing on 4 October, there are 236 hits total.  At the end of September there were 235.  The record is 280 from 2022.  With three months left (88 days as of 4 October), even with 20 hits/month (20/31 = 0.65 monthly rate; estimated), or 60/88 (0.68 hits/day) that is well below the monthly rate of any month so far this year.  And 235 +60 = 295.  So yes, I'm confident that a new record will be set.

Does this article about her grandson's wedding with a passing mention of her death count as an obit for Archduchess Yolande of Austria (A unique hit and joker for Not Gone Yet But Still Forgotten):

Austria's Archduke Alexander kisses new bride Countess Natacha Roumiantzoff-Pachkevitch after the couple tie the knot in lavish ceremony in Belgium | Daily Mail Online

That is pretty formidable deadpooling. Best I've seen in my 18 years.

Francis Lee last picked for the DDP in 2017, so List of the Missed: https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2017/celebs_L.html#leef0

A reminder that Francis Lee should be added to the List of the Missed.

Also to be added is the now deceased Mark Goddard - I can only find him picked in 2009, but maybe he was picked after that? Anyway, not picked this year. https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2009/celebs_G.html#goddam

This line in the write up for my unique pick William Gage tickled me "Judge William Gage has banged his last  gavel"

Great obituaries  on this brilliant pool as always.

It is basically the kind of line the DL front page would fart out if a judge is a DL hit but if you consider it vintage wit I ain't complaining :D

I'm sure it was a very elegant,  thoughtful and classy fart though!

Also with a touch of imagination  banging a gavel  could have more than one meaning...!!
