Seriously?  No jokes about the name AS Byatt, or Byatt AS (as appears in phone book).  Lame-o website

Don't fucking tell me Chris Stone is going to be a nobit? You'd have thought AFL player becomes European first gentleman would be Daily Mail Australia gold, but apparently not...

Does seem like he will be - the only English language coverage of his death on Google news is a tribute from his former club.

No obit for Gerard Colomb neither which surprise me cause the guardian and others made a few articles When he resigned back in 2018 and former minister of the important is an important position. I give up on Colette Maze which did get a fed mentions on uk specialized newspaper but nothing else

European Politicians are one area that obits tend to only come for the biggest names. Even some former PM’s of countries like The Netherlands and Norway didn’t get obits,

Aye, you might even be struggling with the get out of jail sports star card here - I snagged q/o points months late for Danish F1 driver Tom Belso when the roundup of dead sports stars that goes online as part of the BBC SPOTY named him. Not sure AFL usually merits a mention in that annual collection.

Very very very unlikely an obscure AFL player would be mentioned on it. I mean his death hasn’t got any coverage in the Australian media as far as I can see.

Sticky Vicky list of the missed I think. I can see she was picked in 2017 at least.

Not that I'm picking any for 2024, but for those who do - being as Russia (and Ukraine, to a lesser extent) rarely publicise the deaths of significant military figures killed in combat, do we need to install a "ISIS commander" ruling that both sides of the conflict need to confirm a death?

I don't, lol. I avoid it whenever I can.

There's plenty out there now (Guardian for example).

I always post an early QO as a fall back in case there's not a better one comes along. I'm sure gcreptile picks the obits he uses after careful consideration. ;)

I always pick BBC when it's available. Some big names take their time for a better-than-yahoo obit though.
