Runner and huge age fraudster Fauja Singh turns 112 today.

 

First mentioned on these forums back in 2011, he still haunts the threads twelve years later, becoming sort of a DL legend, or demigod. The problem of being 100 when you are 83 is you will be 117 when you are 100.

I blame him and the Athletics authorities. They let him compete though there was a huge doubt on his age ! For example in M90 category, he has the marathon record with an hour better than the second !

I do find it kind of funny how Shivakumara Swami exaggerated his age to a similar degree, but because he kept being hospitalized he became a forum legend while Fauja Singh is reviled since all he did is run with no real health issues.

Well, he has been verified... by the totally legitimate organisation World Book of Records for "promoting Marathon" (clearly didn't like the rebranding to Snickers)

 

I get the impression he'll be around for a while yet, he seems the type that would yo-yo in and out of hospital for the last year or so of his life rather than go quietly.
