Thoughts On The 2024 List

Recommended Posts

The 2024 DL is about to fall behind the 2014 DL, if this drought continues until 30th June it will also fall behind the 2009 DL, although I think this drought will end before 5th July, probably some of these will give the expected result soon: Carter, Chomsky, Redgrave, Kennedy or Greenspan.

Sonny Rollins, Sly Stone, Joe Bugner, Denis Law, Josef Fritzl along with the names I suggested a few posts above (Woodward, Brokaw, Flack, Rantzen, Starmer-Smith, Baxter and Gall) that could provide hit successes.

Bob Newhart should certainly not be discounted too. Never rule out the  potential of a surprise with a name that none of us are expecting imminently such as Hans Blix or Patricia Routledge.

Honestly, everyone’s talking about Carter and Chomsky but I can’t understand how Woodward is still with us. She should have been nº2 on the list also. I sense she can be a hit soon.

What's happening now is highly unlikely. The list is not bad, has a ridicolous amount of decrepit nonagenarians that one of them should randomly die each month.

Carter, Chomsky or Woodward have demonstrated their immortality. But among the others Murray, Greenspan, Kennedy, Laine, Gall, Brooks, Skinner (Immortal material), Baxter, Routledge, Hackman, Blix, Newhart (how still alive?), Farrakhan, Tebbit, Nelson, Flack, Marcos, Rollins could die at any moment.

The result until now is just fucking nonsensical and does not depend on list quality.

This is a pretty unique DL year in general, because usually at this time of the year there's been a couple of deaths by former DL picks too, yet names like Minnelli, Hurd, Attenborough, Faithfull and Ronstadt are all still alive.

Maybe Tebbit will keel over in shock on the morning of 5 July.

If the drought continues through the end of August, it will fall behind the 2010 list. Disappointing so far.

The 2024 DL is about to fall behind the 2007 list, if the drought continues through the beginning of August, it will fall behind the 1997 list, though I still think this drought will end before 31 July, maybe some of these will give the expected results in a few weeks: Carter, Chomsky, Woodward, Tebbit, or Nelson.

I don't see Carter dying before the election and Chomsky certainly won't bite the dust this year.

This is the latest fourth death on the above graph.

Latest fifth death is day 242 (2022) which still ran the year out at 14 hits.

Busy Autumn?

The 2024 DL is just fell behind the 2022 DL again, even though Newhart has increased the DL score we are falling behind again, people like Frank Field, Gudrun Ure, William Russell, Shannen Doherty, Gena Rowlands and Alain Delon could have increased the score for 10 hits, we are almost in September already, although I prefer to save the full judgement until December as I still have hopes that the 2024 DL will reach 10 hits, first names that come to mind: Woodward, Rollins, Skinner, Laine, Chomsky, Starmer-Smith, Baxter.

As for Carter I can see him surviving until December.

If they were to drop 21 people, I think it would be :
Pope Francis
Robert Wagner
Mel Brooks
Patricia Routedge
Clint Eastwood
Vanessa  Redgrave
Desmond Morris
Denis Law
Hans Blix
Julie Walters
Tom Brokaw

Louis Farrakhan
Daniel Barenboim
Robert Duvall
Josef Fritzl
Brigitte Bardot
Ted Turner
Buzz Aldrin
Sly Stone
Tom Baker
Joe Bugner

I don't see them dropping Scales for example as mentioned by msc in her thread, but I can see them dropping Redgrave, Bardot or Aldrin over Dick Cheney for whatever reason. They seem to think it would be a masterstroke to score with him due to the unpredictability of his heart condition, even though he is on the list for 6 years now (so barely a burst of genius from their part if ever he scores and even less a shock, I don't understand why he's still on the list!)

What about James Whale? I follow him on Twitter and it seems like he still looks good, he could last another year

I disagree, Sonny Rollins and Dennis Skinner are still in good health or at least holding their ground, I think they will both reach the age of 95 at least
