There was a draft movement for former Senator James Buckley of New York in 1976.  Buckley who lived to 100 years and 162 days I don't know if he actually became a candidate so not sure if this would count.

James Buckley was never a presidential candidate. The draft movement you are referring too, was led by Senator Jesse Helms to prevent Ronald Reagan from securing the Republican nomination in 1976.

My prediction still stands. JC will see his state and his nation vote for Trump and will then die of disappointment.

This is the prophecy.

Or it will motivate him to live for another 4 years to get rid of Trump. He wanted to die in peace knowing his work was done and his country was safe.

Surely JC wouldn't allow it. If he dies in the next 2 months, Biden would still be the acting president so I'd imagine he'd give the eulogy

If Biden has a bad day he'll stand next to Carter's coffin and eulogise Reagan

Desperate times for satirists when the world does this to them

Pretty good argument for euthanasia.

I was only on the Harris train since the debate, but before that, yes, that's what I thought. Jimmy "has" to die before Trump.

Could he refuse a state funeral if he really really doesn't want Trump involved with it anywhere? He (or his family) could have a plan B for a smaller scale local burial with ex-president Biden invited as a guest speaker.

Or knowing Jimmy Carter he will still be coffin dodging in 2029 after Trump leaves office.

In theory, but I doubt his family would refuse if offered. They might not invite Trump to it, or at least to speak during it, but I really don't think they would refuse outright.

I am sure Trump would be at the D.C funeral but I am sure also the family can choose who they want to speak.. The sitting President does not have to speak do they? If the family member said they wanted Biden I am sure it would be arranged that way.

He will probably be the one doing the Eulogy at Biden and Trumps funerals.

They don’t have to. Trump didn’t speak at Bush’s funeral

Before Carter’s vice president Mondale died in 2021 in his last email he stated his satisfaction that he could let go with Biden in the White House to carry on.

I could see Carter waiting Trump out for 4 years until another Democratic President is elected or sworn in.

In fairness, Jimmy may be far from the only American who voted for the last time in this election...

Almost certainly. And could be the oldest winner as well...
