Remember her?

Britain's youngest supercentenarian. When Katie Masters received her 6th telegram from the Queen last year, she complained that they all bore the same image of the Queen. So this year, they changed the picture

It looks to me as though Her Majesty is scowling on that picture.

Catherine Masters has died aged 111 years.

Believe me Windsor, when you get past 50 a scowl means: "happy as a pig in shit." One loses use of the muscle that lifts one's mouth corners.

Margaret Fish, formerly the oldest person in the UK, has died. The link isn't an obit but looks to be regarding the same person as it's a Bedford address and there can't be two people called Margaret Fish in the UK who are 112 and live in Bedford.

Violet Wood, at a sprightly 111 years and 198 days, now takes over as oldest living UK bod. Eating toast and pickles is her secret to a long life.

We must be approaching the last person born in the 19th century by now.

An obit of sorts but I don't think it's one that counts for the DDP.

Hmm, this is interesting. Despite the low points totals on offer UK's oldests have been bankers for dead poolers. Fish's death was announced late to get the funeral out of the way and the announcement arrived amidst nuclear meltdown and NATO airstrikes. Will any paper see fit to run a belated snippet?

Not quite-there are still 54 people alive verified to have been born in the 19th century.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_livin...percentenarians

Only two left from the UK though. I expect the last one to go will get a fair amount of coverage.

Fish got an obit from the Sun online nearly a week ago...

And presently there will be great rejoicing at MPFC Towers.

It amuses me that they say they dont know what's wrong with him. He's 114 and a half years old, making him the 3rd oldest man who has ever lived and the oldest american male who has ever lived.I think it might just be his 'time to go' somehow... :)

So Jiroemon Kimura of Japan becomes the new world's oldest man. He is also the last known living man born in the year 1897 and the only documented man still alive who was born before 1900.

The article in the link is a couple of years old, but at least we get a picture.

I was booking a flight on EasyJet yesterday and I noticed the online birth date options started at 1850, so there's nothing to stop him travelling as long as he doesn't mind paying for each piece of luggage, in flight meals, priority bath chair etc. It's really inclusive of them to have an upper age limit of 161.

Botswana's oldest woman dies aged 130.

Presumably, the Guinness Book of Records reach doesn't extend to Botswana.
