I believe he's the 8th DDP pick to die of Covid, and the first on DL.

I like to count Vasily Kulkov with half a point. Cancer/COVID complications.

I suppose Ripper RIP is a fairly obvious title...

Yes you're correct. Kulkov died while infected with it, so he meets the criteria. So Sutcliffe is no. 9.

Classic, let's give this a bit more exposure and for the benefit of the young 'uns explain this is one of Brass Eye's (worth a Google) best ever jokes. So good it was banned. Obviously it's partly about our interest in serial killers and does - kind of - make the point that entertainment/comedy may be as Woody Allen once said tragedy + time (the Sweeny Todd musical was big around this time).

Correct me if I'm wrong but that segment was written/co-written by "Friend of the Forum" David "Davey" Quantick too, no?

He feels too young and too apparently healthy for the list - no point putting evil on the list just for the sake of it.

Peter Tobin would be a better bet.Same age as Sutcliffe and has had cancer for a long time now.

I am not sure he is notorious enough for the list.

Looking forward to Bible John biting the dust. The sod keeps pretending he's about to snuff it...

Not enough of a Brass Eye anorak to know, but that sounds plausible

David's not likely to drop in and enlighten us, is he?

Oh I disagree remember the case vividly. Was on the News every single night for months. He will get an obituary from every major news outlet. He was said to weigh 5 stone at one point.Has had cancer for nearly two years and has been hospitalised for a suspected heart attack and stroke in the past.

Christ, I think I'd prefer Sutcliffe dropping in over that! :D

Surely his replacement has to be Sidney Cooke?

I mean the guy is literally hanging on by a thread.

Why would we take a risk with Tobin instead?

Hmm

So, Quantick discussing his music journalism and showing a certain amount of self-depreciating humour

Once, frustrated by his refusal to answer any of my questions the way I wanted him to, I asked Tom Jones what it was like to be a sex symbol. He fixed me with a stern glare. "That to me," he said, "is like being asked by a cripple what it's like to walk." Hard to argue with that, really.

Sutcliffe was a bit of a risky pick. Was not a cert by any means.

True story. The night he killed that Polish lass in Glasgow (the murder that he finally got caught for), we were in a pub 500 yards away. Bit of a "holy shit" moment when everyone realised later on.

I think 37.59% of the 17th death poll, would suggest otherwise.

Could that be a record for the the most voted for, to drop next?

I meant a dead cert when selected in December for the list.

The committee must have had some 'heads up' in December on Covid-19 coming our way, to finish him off.

Just realised Ian Brady was also no 50 on the list the last year we got 17 hits. If  the committee  makes a serial killer no 50 every year maybe we'll get a record year !

Heard the news bulletin on my way to work. All I heard was “one of Britain’s most notorious serial killers has died” - didn’t need the name, I immediately thought about this forum.

RIP Wilma McCann, Emily Jackson, Irene Richardson, Patricia 'Tina' Atkinson, Jayne MacDonald, Jean Jordan, Yvonne Pearson, Helen Rytka, Vera Millward, Josephine Whitaker, Barbara Leach, Marguerite Walls and Jacqueline Hill.
