JR976evil 906 Posted July 13, 2016 Singer and guitarist Alex Chilton, formally of sixties band The Box Tops, now has a box bottom and box sides! Now founding member and drummer Danny Smythe has died aged 67. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/danny-smythe-box-tops-dies/ It's not so much I don't know what search you performed to locate the Chilton post ('box tops' perhaps), but rather.... WHY? Why did u feel the need to tie these posts 6 years apart together? Smh It's ok I still love you Y-Dub. SC Like The Reaper, I'm putting the band back together.... I'm sure it's a mission from God. Beat me to it
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted July 13, 2016 Report here of the death of Steven Young of Colourbox, a moderately successful indie band of the 1980s on the Indie charts. https://twitter.com/pollybirkbeck/status/753210565229682688 However, he is probably better known as a member of the band M/A/R/R/S who had a hit with Pump Up The Volume. Oh HELL no :-(((((( I loved Colourbox and still have my cassette (lol). This hits hard I didn't even know he was ill, like when Fad Gadget (Frank Tovey) died. RIP Goddamit. SC EDIT: Here is a good link to Young's background. I know few of you paid fukkall attention to Colourbox. I implore you to do a retrospective via YouTube or whatever. Pump Up The Body -- full of embalming fluid. https://youtu.be/w9gOQgfPW4Y?list=PLb1s-9Uz48Q-CWBYiqgugPdCTKL7rNbco

maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted July 22, 2016 Reet gang, with the usual selflessness and public spirit I've been displaying for 14,000 posts I'll go talent spotting on everyone's behalf at the Ramblin' Man Festival in Maidstone over the next couple of days; Hawkwind, Uriah Heep and several other pensionable proggers will parade on various stages and much as I'd sooner be posting her I'll brave the crowds, sunshine and strong ale so you don't have to! Anyone truly defying the odds to the extent I would be amazed to see them on the same stage next year will be outed on my return!

Interim report: Uriah Heep stole day one on the prog stage for me.Mick Box (the oldster/only permanent resident of the band since their start) looks like this stuff injects him with the life force. One or two of the Zomblies looking like time is catching up with them but that's more down to ill-advised use of hair dye than anything obitable. Colin Blundstone looks like someone's mad grandmother these days:
maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted July 25, 2016 Final report on Ramblin' Man - it was generally fucking awesome. NONE of the real veterans seen on stage looked remotely close to death. Even Hawkwind's Dave Brock - 75 next month - looked remarkably animated and chipper. Procul Harum were less lively, so much so that wandering down the hill to catch Black Stone Cherry seemed the best bet. A few of the crowd imbibed to the very edge of death - but none of those casualties are obitable as far as I can see.
