Dead Pop Stars

In the - likely - event that ZZ Top see 2014 as a working unit they'll beat the Tops' 44 years with the same line-up. Though, technically speaking, they were a quartet for most of that time as manager Bill Ham was an equal signatory on their contracts. Ham has retired, his former charges are about to release a new album!

Bill Ham dead at 79: http://music.blog.mystatesman.com/2016/06/21/bill-ham-manager-of-zz-top-dies-at-79/

May I please commend you on this find. I've no idea how you got this one; The Statesman whatever source that is is a fee-based blog, and his obit pops up only in that source as of the time of my response. You are my research hero for this week Y-Dub!

Ham's death is now widely reported. ZZ Top still slated for tomorrow night at Glasto last time I looked.

Worthy of more than a mention in the fringes thread, Enyas dad Leo at 90.

http://m.rte.ie//entertainment/2016/0622/797380-legendary-musician-leo-brennan-dies-aged-90/

Yes, referencing the deceased as 'Enya's Dad' is proof enough he should be pulled from the backbench 'fringes' thread. He should stand alone on his own accomplishments, that Enya's Dad guy.

Kyle Falconer has bumped his wedding to go into rehab.

Given the copious amounts of class 'A's' he melts, anything is possible.

Paul Di'Anno, former frontman of Iron Maiden, does NOT battle cancer for a third time, but he's had an infected abcess around/on/in (?) his lungs:

He's responding to treatment. He's also in a wheelchair because of double knee-replacement surgery.

Singer and guitarist Alex Chilton, formally of sixties band The Box Tops, now has a box bottom and box sides!

Now founding member and drummer Danny Smythe has died aged 67. http://ultimateclassicrock.com/danny-smythe-box-tops-dies/

It's not so much I don't know what search you performed to locate the Chilton post ('box tops' perhaps), but rather.... WHY? Why did u feel the need to tie these posts 6 years apart together?

Smh

It's ok I still love you Y-Dub.

I told my co-worker about the drummer dying and he said he was friends with Alex Chilton (he owned a N'awlins bar and played guitar so it seems). So now I'm hearing Chilton stories lol. He said Chilton had a high voice 'like a woman'. He asked him how come he didn't sound like that on The Letter.....Alex told him he had been partying and smoking and drinking etc late the night before they recorded and they went and recorded it and he was all raspy, and the band decided they liked it and wah-lah, a hit record.

Legendary guitarist Joe Perry collapsed on stage Sunday night during a performance in Coney Island.

Perry, 65, was playing alongside actor Johnny Depp and fellow rock star Alice Cooper with their side project Hollywood Vampires when he had to sit down on the drum set.

Think he's gonna see 70? Dream On.

Report here of the death of Steven Young of Colourbox, a moderately successful indie band of the 1980s on the Indie charts. https://twitter.com/pollybirkbeck/status/753210565229682688

However, he is probably better known as a member of the band M/A/R/R/S who had a hit with Pump Up The Volume.
