Guest Denis Healey Posted August 29, 2005 Denis Healey will be 88 tomorrow . Following the deaths of so many top Labour politcians recently i wonder how long he can go on for...
Windsor 2,233 Posted August 29, 2005 Just because other Labour figures are dying - it doesn't mean that he has to. Its not like a fad in the Party.
millwall32 114 Posted August 30, 2005 Good call Dennis. Healey has to be at least considered for 2006. His wife, I believe, recently passed away, he has looked frail and aged of late, and I seem to recall him having heart trouble. A strong posibility for 2006 (oops, I think that is turning into my catchphrase).
Josco 49 Posted August 30, 2005 I agree, I think he should be on next years list.

maryportfuncity 10,645 Posted November 26, 2005 Ok. I'll write a gloating post when he does Not much sign of that gloating post since August 30th. Does anyone have any inside information that might help us assess him for 2006?
Canadian Paul 97 Posted November 26, 2005 I've heard that he has a clean health record, especially given his age. Of course, given his age it only takes one little thing to bump him off, but that hardly illuminates him in light of the many other more "qualified" candidates we've discussed. Cerberus 302 Posted November 27, 2005 Denis Healey will be 88 tomorrow . Following the deaths of so many top Labour politcians recently i wonder how long he can go on for... Of course, if he's started talking about himself in the third person it might mean he's starting to lose his marbles ...
Star Crossed 33 Posted January 16, 2006 Baron Healey isn't looking too chipper these days. Saw him on a Martin Bell docu-show about war reporting recently; I hardly recognised him, save for the trademark bushy eyebrows. He looked extremely gaunt and didn't sound too confident. He was born in 1917, which makes him 8 years older than Thatcher, at 88. Maybe they're both just outstaying their welcome in an attempt to outlive one another? I've long suspected some of our members as being frequent fliers around Westminster; anyone seen him recently or have any news? [Merged HCW]

Ageless Immortal Giant 2 Posted November 23, 2009 92 years old. A good choice for DeathList 2010 surely?
millwall32 114 Posted November 23, 2009 I would say so too.
Octopus of Odstock 2,187 Posted November 23, 2009 I disagree - no known health problems & he's still making regular functions (He was at the House of Commons in the last few weeks). However he is devoted to his wife Edna, so the only reason he would be worth a punt is if she died... but it's not an exact science - Michael Foot & Lord Carrington go on whilst's Healy's old mate Callaghan went in days. There are far, far better candidates than him - I can see him going on a few years yet** ** He'll be dead tomorrow now....

There are no obvious utstanding health problem on top of his age. But surely any famous 92 year old has at least a solid claim to go on the list.

Rotten Ali 600 Posted January 2, 2011 The positional order of this year's list could have been improved upon. Denis Healey at Number 10 - that's all wrong whilst in the position of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Denis Healey occupied number 11 Downing Street - that means he should be at position 11 in the list and Maggie Thatcher should thus be in position 10 on the list (not 13) for similar rational. Likewise I notice Betty Ford could have been number 16 (as in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue) No need to have moved Nelson Mandela from position number 27 (since he was jailed for over 27 years)

Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,218 Posted March 26, 2013 Dennis Healey has given an interview to the New Statesman. He still doesn't look like troubling the DL for a while. He takes me back to those long gone times of a Labour Government in the 70s and Franklin, the Sun newspapers cartoonist. Was it really that long ago?
