millwall32 114 Posted August 30, 2005 Good call Dennis. Healey has to be at least considered for 2006. His wife, I believe, recently passed away, he has looked frail and aged of late, and I seem to recall him having heart trouble. Of course, given his age it only takes one little thing to bump him off, but that hardly illuminates him in light of the many other more "qualified" candidates we've discussed. Saw him on a Martin Bell docu-show about war reporting recently; I hardly recognised him, save for the trademark bushy eyebrows. He looked extremely gaunt and didn't sound too confident. He was born in 1917, which makes him 8 years older than Thatcher, at 88. Maybe they're both just outstaying their welcome in an attempt to outlive one another? However he is devoted to his wife Edna, so the only reason he would be worth a punt is if she died... but it's not an exact science - Michael Foot & Lord Carrington go on whilst's Healy's old mate Callaghan went in days. Denis Healey at Number 10 - that's all wrong whilst in the position of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Denis Healey occupied number 11 Downing Street - that means he should be at position 11 in the list and Maggie Thatcher should thus be in position 10 on the list (not 13) for similar rational. Likewise I notice Betty Ford could have been number 16 (as in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue) No need to have moved Nelson Mandela from position number 27 (since he was jailed for over 27 years) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
