Recommended Posts

I've heard that Peter Hawkins who provided the voice for Captain Pugwash at al has some kind of degenerative brain disease and can no longer remember anythin pre 1990s. He was born 1924 and e's bound to get an obit. What do you guys think?

Recalling the voice of Pugwash I suspect he's had that for some time.

Not just famous for Pugwash - I've a soft spot for him as he did so many voices in the programmes I watched as a child - Penny Crayon, Superted (The narrator in the opening titles), most of The Family Ness voices, he was the original voice of Zippy in Rainbow, was a comic sidekick in Dave Allen's programmes, did the Dalek voices in the early days, and gave them their distinctive voice, and also did voices in The Woodentops & Bill & Ben - the man who did "flobbadob".

That's one hell of a resume. Definite obit, and certainly a very ill man. It's up to everyone else, but he's a prime candidate for my DDP team, although it saddens me a lot to have to add him to that list - he's provided me with many fond memories. :D

I had no idea he was that old - I suppose, thinking about it, he must be, but I always thought he was in his late 60's.

I thought it was flobalob.

It's one of the all-time great etymological debates, but "flobbadob" seems to result in more hits on Google regards Bill & Ben than "flobalob". Not saying that it's right, mind, just what seems to be the majority consensus of public opinion. :D

Jack Klugman (Quincy) 84 today.

Ex thoat cancer victim. He's definately a possibility for relapse, or just death from old age. Also one of the last two jurors from '12 Angry Men'

King Gyanendra names dying man as new Prime Minister.

Well if Girija Prasad Koirala (wish you'd posted his name Paulie since links like the days of our lives often die) but any way and any this and any that.......if Koirala survives on briefly it may be for the best since in reality it leaves little time for the masses to become overly disgruntled, disenchanted or disheartened. So maybe in the words of me it's all going to be okay.

Or quite possibly Peter Falk, still going strong at 78.

I Love Columbo!! He'll live forever!!!!

On the Klugman topic though, he's in my prospective 2007 list, and I wondered if you got any extra points each time he was killed in Diagnosis Murder? I'm sure he has died twice in that already.

I think he only died once. He played a detective with cancer who has to find one last murderer before he kicks it. :D

I dont know about the other one.

Cabinet Positions

(snip)

Commerce

(snip)

12. Alexander Trowbridge (Johnson)

Alexander Trowbridge no longer eligible for 2007 list.

Only article is a NYT article, which means you can't read it without a subscription, but I think the title gets the point across anyhow.

and to prove an earlier point - how do the British press deal with this "colossus" of America? Bored indifference. Not one measly mention thus far - but a 100 yr old lady in Louth (I didn't even know where the F**k that was until the end of the article) does get an obit! Old Lady Dead

EDIT

However, I've just seen the Guardian has reported it. But these days, that hardly counts. They'll give an obit to everyone, even Laurel Hester. :D However searching news stories & "Trowbridge" has revealed this heart-warming news...

Twirlers

Huzzah!!!! :D

I was wondering whether this chap may be worth some investigation.

Faustino Asprilla

Now I realise he is not old, or infirm, but... he is (allegedly) mad as a drunk Badger (pulling handguns on teammates etc..) and this is the best bit, he's Colombian and according to this information he has now turned his hand to Politics.

((Colombian footballers + Politics) / Medellin Cartel) (may) = Andreas Escobar Revisited

Just a thought, apologies in advance if I have erred in respect of protocol, being new and all.

No, no, no. Good idea to talk about Colombian footballers. Lady Di picked up on it a while ago

http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1488

but you're on the right tracks and Asprilla is an interesting choice. Shame he's not playing anymore. The Colombians seem to like their players match fit when they shoot them. Not much protocol here. Two-footed tackles are rarely penalised. I wonder if there might be any World Cup-related deaths. Brian Barwick?

Welcome Deeuu. Are you by any chance this Deeuu?

Love the avatar, if so. Thought the gravediggers trousers might be a clue.

Thanks for the welcome Godot.

Busted, I'm the forum Admin there :banghead:

My next question has to be, are you friend or foe? By that I mean, I hope we haven't crossed swords over football.... yet :D

I seem to remember we had rather a good discussion about Faustino when George "The Safe cracker" Reynolds (who may also be worth a look!) was claiming that Darlington had signed him.

All sorts of stories of Asprilla's (alleged) penchant for Porn Stars and handguns, as well as an obvious natural ability to play the odd tune on the traditional Colombian nose flute.

A heady combination when mixed, stirred, laced with political corruption and thrown into the melting pot that is Colombia, could make him a decent outside bet.

Maintaining the South American flavour, I wonder which Bolivian or Peruvian dignitaries may be on the CIA's DL for 2007?

I just hit John Kenneth Galbraith and am looking for a really "hot" (or maybe cold is more apt) replacement. Anyone have any ideas?

I can't think too many people would be upset if anything happened to him, the horrible little runt. I'm *so* glad Leeds were 'unlucky' in their bid for him. If the Colombians don't get him first I'm sure a few criminal types in Newcastle would like to (remember all the drug/gun running stories during his time at St James' Park, not to mention stories of items being nicked from fellow players' pockets in the dressing room)...

She might already be dead for all I know (can't find anything to say so however) but how about off-school-ill-kids-hero-and-all-round-cutlery-abuser daytime telly painter Nancy Kominsky?

Born 1915 so she's knocking on a bit to put it mildly.

A bit obscure admittedly but is possibly retro enough to get a mention somewhere.

Well, considering that two of their 1994 World Cup squad are already dead, they're not a bad choice.

But worth noting that death-wise and taking into account recent qualifications, Jamaica are the worst. 2 of their 1998 squad are already dead, both in traffic accidents. And Robbie Earle was nearly added to that list when he was kicked in the liver, IIRC & needed emergency surgery.

Three players from 2002 are dead - 1 Costa Rican (suicide), 1 Ecuadorian (shooting), 1 Camerooni (Foe - H/A)

This doesn't mean much but perhaps worth looking into (espec. Jamaican traffic accidents) - just to put Jamaica & Colombia's early death toll into comparison:

There are more dead players in Colombia's 94 team & Jamaica's 2002 team than France's 1958 team. :banghead:
