There is so little going on in the world of death that the Guardian is giving a front page obit to DJ Spank -Spank.

https://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2016/sep/22/rip-dj-spank-spank-phuture-earl-smith-jr-acid-house

Well Jimmy Young turned 95 yesterday.

Just saying, like..

Splitting radio DJs from "club" DJs could lead us to use the perfect tagline for a thread about DJs/electronica/rave artists: "Sick drops"

Radio 2 DJ Desmond Carrington is quitting the station this month after 40 years because he's seriously ill with cancer, heart disease and possible alzheimers. normally when ageing DJs leave radio 2 theyre dead within weeks http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-37518086

Aye, well - let's hope those weeks include at least a few hours of 2017, eh?

According to a complete uncited post on Digital Spy, he had "heart failure on Christmas Day 2015". I'm going to take a wee guess that's probably not the greatest Christmas he's ever had!

Why not, he received the gift that keeps on giving.

So, presumably he has already decided on the last tune he'll ever play.

His show isn't exactly regular listening at MPFC Towers, anyone got a clue how he'll sign off?

Maybe with his 3rd and final heart attack. That would be one hell of a way to end his career!

He pre-records his show though, so we'd never hear it.

For the full ironic enjoyment there's always the Turkish doctor, on a show about health, who suffered a double heart attack live on air: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2833203/Doctor-double-heart-attack-live-air-appearing-Turkish-TV-health-show.html

Looks like Dave Cash, one of the original Radio 1/Radio 2 DJs has died aged 74. I'll update the photo legend on page 2 of this thread. https://twitter.com/BBCSurrey/status/789467063878348800

Edit: Report - http://radiotoday.co.uk/2016/10/legendary-radio-presenter-dave-cash-dies-at-74/

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Cash_(disc_jockey)

That's one from each row this year alone. And Pete Murray and Jimmy Young still sail on!

That's 'cos Pete & Jimmy are in my DDP team and the others weren't.

There's always a simple explanation.

this is a shocker- former radio 1 DJ Mark Goodier has suffered a stroke.Looks like he'll survive but could be the end of his DJing career. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/topnews/bbc-radio-dj-mark-goodier-55-suffers-a-stroke/ar-AAkqpNz?ocid=spartanntp

Well the article states that he tends to work behind the scenes now and having a stroke doesn't necessarily mean that you end up as a dribbling vegetable either.

Brian Matthew is furious with the BBC, denies leaving by mutual consent: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4213892/I-m-not-Radio-Gaga-DJ-Brian-Matthew-tells-JANE-FRYER.html

"Now he's 63 BBC are trying to prevent him from presenting Sounds Of The 60s"

Jeez, I was going to say, he's never 63!

But it's the usual crap reporting

But now, a mere 63 years into his BBC career ...

So, he's pushing 90. Looks pretty spry.

Heard Brian host his last SOTS today, so sad :(

I wonder if he will be like Desmond Carrington, retired and dead within months.
