Canadian Paul 97 Posted May 29, 2006 Prolific character actor Paul Gleason has died aged 67 from lung cancer. He was probably best known for his role as the principal in "The Breakfast Club" His imdb biog is very extensive. How sad. Film aficionados may remember him in his role from Die Hard, though personally I enjoyed his performance as Professor McDoogle (Van Wilder's off-and-on nemesis) in "Van Wilder." He was probably best known for his role as the principal in "The Breakfast Club" His imdb biog is very extensive. I was, and still am, pathetically, a huge fan of The Breakfast Club! I always thought it was way too harsh to keep badly behaved teenagers in extended detension, and thought the principal was far too mean. Didn't he feature in those ill-fated programmes with Steve "Interesting" Davis & co. where they pitted snooker players and pool players against each other playing both sports (and possibly billiards too - hell, I can't remember!). At 79 isn't it possible that he just died of old age? Yes it is, but he didn't. He died from liver cancer. And by the way, 79 is not that old.
