Sir Creep 7,070 Posted February 24, 2017 Bernie Custis, pro football’s first black quarterback who blazed the trail for future stars like Warren Moon, Chuck Ealey and Damon Allen, has died. He was 88. Custis made pro football history Aug. 29, 1951, when he became a starter with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He starred at quarterback with Syracuse University and was selected sixth overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 1951 NFL draft. But the former college roommate of Al Davis — the late Oakland Raiders coach and owner — was told he’d play safety with the club, a move he resisted. Death Impends 7,953 Posted March 21, 2017 Hello QEIAD, and welcome to the forums. Just letting you know that for future reference, threads pertaining to ill individuals should be created in the DeathList Forum section rather than the DeathList extra-curricular. Additionally, I've merged this thread into the preexisting American Football thread, as I don't sense Dwight Clark being a name who'll receive enough coverage or discussion to warrant a standalone thread. Though there isn't any hard rule for this, there are plenty of more generic profession threads that should be considered to post someone's health in if they aren't going to receive much discussion.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted April 13, 2017 Wayne Hardin, the winningest coach in Temple University football history, has died at age 91. The school's athletic department on Wednesday announced the death of Hardin after he suffered a major stroke on Tuesday, just three days after taking part in the Owls' alumni festivities during spring football practice. Hardin spent 13 seasons (1970-82) at the helm of the Owls, leading them to an 80-52-3 record in that span. Those 80 wins at Temple surpass the likes of Pop Warner, Bruce Arians, Al Golden and Matt Rhule. Woulda been better if he died of Hardin'n of the arteries.
