"Tragic news: Two former #Jets greats, OT Marvin Powell and C Jim Sweeney, have passed away, the team announced. Two fantastic OLM in different eras. Gone far too young: Powell only 67, Sweeney 60. RIP."

Another former New York Jets offensive lineman is dead.

A Michigan State University Spartan, apparently the Jets were so bad circa 1973 that he was a ‘super star’ for a 3-D set of cards put out by Kellogg’s.

Word going around is Johnie Cooks has been in an ICU for several weeks with heart problems.
Ten year NFL career, #2 overall pick in the 1982 NFL draft, won a Super Bowl while playing in New York. He could garner an obit for any pools that include American sources. Probably inconsequential. No link, unfortunately.

Defensive tackle Adrian Dingle, who spent five seasons with the San Diego Chargers, died Tuesday at 45.

Dingle played with the Chargers from 2000 to 2004. His best season came in 2003, when he made 37 tackles and collected six sacks while starting all 16 games.

Dingle was selected by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL draft out of Clemson where he was an All-ACC defensive end. As a senior in 1998, he posted 10.5 sacks, a school record at the time.

“Terry Bradshaw is so dumb he couldn’t spell CAT if you spotted him the C and the A.”
(Dallas Cowboy LB Thomas ‘Hollywood’ Henderson)

Same can be said for CANCER.

His second positive diagnosis.

Today, Terry is cancer-free, which is fantastic. Nevertheless, the show won't be coming back, but that's not the important thing ... the fact Terry has rebounded is awesome!

Not sure if he had been acceptable for the DDP, but he's my second shortlist loss today.

Crossposting college football coach Mike Leach’s “personal health issue.”

Leach has been revealed to suffered a massive heart attack, with no one finding him until 10 or 15 minutes after suffering the attack as well as possibly a seizure. Sounds extremely likely to have suffered brain damage.

Yeah, this is sounding very bleak for Leach.  If your brain goes without oxygen for that long, there's basically no way to recover.  He's most likely on life support without brain function.  Former Kansas State coach Bill Snyder even mistakenly tweeted that Leach had passed away, then corrected himself and apologized shortly thereafter, and has since deleted both tweets.  My guess is that some in the know are probably aware that nothing can be done and that it's just a matter of when the family takes him off life support.
