Truly one of the greatest players in history, legendary Chicago Bears linebacker Dick Butkus has died at the age of 80, according to TMZ.  (They are about 99.9% accurate.)

Nah I just thought it was funny. I'm not seriously implying he's still alive. For those not in the loop, Butkus' Twitter was (in)famous for being run by someone who was clearly far younger than him.

 
Is a pretty unexpected death though. Appeared at the Bears game on Sept 10 and seemed fine.

No new updated in recent years,but apparently has being dealing with alcoholism post playing career,and was in danger of having his leg amputated.

RIP to a Bears legend.

 

Must've been pretty sudden, he was at the season opener on September 10th and didn't seem ill.

Ray Brown was born in Fort Worth, Texas and died at age 74 on Oct. 26. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 1971 NFL Draft. In 1973 he led the Falcons with six interceptions. He played college football at West Texas State, which is now known as West Texas A&M University.
Brown also played for the New Orleans Saints

Sam Ball was born and died in Henderson, Kentucky, died at age 79, and played in the National Football League (NFL) from 1966 to 1970. During that period, he appeared in Super Bowl III and Super Bowl V (champion) for Baltimore. Colts. He played college football at the University of Kentucky. He also played for the New York Jets and was also drafted by the Indianapolis Colts.

Matt Ulrich was born in Streamwood, Illinois and died at age 41, and was an American football offensive guard for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League. He won Super Bowl XLI with the Colts during the 2006 season over the Chicago Bears. 475) and incline bench press (425)

Devon Wylie was born in Sacramento, California and died at the age of 35, he was selected 107th overall in the 4th round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, he also played for the Arizona Cardinals, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers,St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Toronto Argonauts

Dave Young was born in Akron, Ohio and died at age 64. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft. He played college football at Purdue.
Young also played for the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Colts/Indianapolis Colts.Died in 21/nov

Harald Hasselbach was born in Amsterdam and died at the age of 56, the Dutchman was an American football player. He played seven seasons in the NFL for the Denver Broncos from 1994 to 2000 and was a starter in Super Bowl XXXIII. He previously played four seasons for the CFL's Calgary Stampeders and also played on a Gray Cup-winning team. He is one of at least ten players who were part of a winning team in the Gray Cup and Super Bow, died of mucinous adenocarcinoma
