JiroemonKimura 95 Posted October 22, 2016 Ingeborg Maria Ingers (née Sjöqvist), Swedish diver who held the record of being the world's oldest Olympian for about a week after the death of Guo Jie, has died at 103. https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dn.se%2Fsport%2Fsvenskan-som-var-varldens-aldsta-olympier-dod%2F&edit-text= She competed at the 1932 and 1936 Olympics, finishing fourth and ninth in the platform. She won silver medals at the 1931 and the 1934 European Championships. Edit: According to Wiki, the oldest living Olympian is now Simone Schaller, US athlete who is also 103. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Canadian_Paul/Olympics As reported elsewhere, Simone Schaller has died at 104. https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Ffrontpage.fok.nl%2Fnieuws%2F749753%2F1%2F1%2F50%2F.html&edit-text= The oldest Olympian is now believed to be John Lysak as per CP's Wiki list. Somewhat odd that the first news site to report her death is from the Netherlands. She doesn't even have a Dutch wiki page.
YoungWillz 21,055 Posted October 22, 2016 Might it be a hoax, you think? Can't imagine why, but it does rely on a Facebook post, seemingly, and they're not terribly reliable. Can't imagine why someone would want to fake her death though. No doubt a corroborative source might pop up soon, when more US and British journalists are awake/working/not drinking. Thatcher 2,417 Posted January 16, 2017 Fernand Decanali, French cyclist, who won gold at the 1948 London Olympics, has died aged 91. (Here is a link for the original obituary, in French. Hopefully since the page has been google translated it will count. If it doesn't count, then I'm afraid Fernand Decanali will have to be considered immortal as I doubt he'll ever get an English language obituary).

Hey Thatcher.... so how did you find this one? I did a random Google search and get nothing. Of course I'm searching 'in English', and I presume Google isn't searching other languages. So....are you doing non-English searches? Just wondering. For the record still no English language obit anywhere. Good catch. SC
