Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists

Recommended Posts

How about 1992 3 Metre Springboard gold medallist Mark Lenzi? That excite you? He's a diver that isn't the one with AIDS or the one with the dead father, so I've never heard of him. He's dead, anyway.

Spare a thought for 93 year old Sam Cox,one of the last surviving members of the UKs 1948 Olympic team , the last year it was held in the UK. He waited 64 years for its return, and with just 4 weeks to go... http://www.eadt.co.u...n_cox_1_1424033

Hungarys Alex Tarics is apparently the oldest living Olympic medallist at 98 http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2012/07/27/belvedere-man-is-oldest-living-olympic-gold-medalist/

Also 95-year old Bill Lucas is Britain's oldest living Olympian http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/bill-lucas-britains-oldest-living-1172832 missed out competing in his prime due to WW2, not that he's bitter or anything!

Both these would be guaranteed UK press coverage

Marginal Olympian (1948 British footballer) but Tony Pawson's upper crust sporting career and life in general is truly brimming with British spunk! http://www.thecricketer.com/default.aspx?pageid=985&topicid=15323

Also heard Frank Sando (British 10,000 metres in 52 and 56 games) is dead. Famous for his fifth place finish in 52 despite losing a shoe well before the finish and running home with one bare foot. Might well have been a medallist without the mishap.

Or "crowd pleaser" the paying punters loved his gutsy performance.
