Windsor 2,233 Posted June 2, 2008 Bo Diddley is the 9th success of 2008. He is the 169th death since 1987. The 2008 list is now in 10th place shared with 1994, 1995, and 1997, out of a possible 22 lists. Not bad at all considering it is only the start of June. BCAlum2000 42 Posted June 2, 2008 Within the span of under two weeks, there have been five celebrities I have heard of who have died. Dick Martin, Sydney Pollack, Harvey Korman, Yves Saint Laurent, and Bo Diddley. Impressive. But then again, it always seems to be the trend nowadays. Literally weeks go by with no famous people dead, then within a week or two, a deluge of famous folks die. So my hunch is that there will be a long dry spell before the next truly famous person dies (my prediction is that that will occur sometime in early to mid July). Yes, I agree though, I think that we'll get into July before another hit. I also feel fairly confident that we should be able to amass 14/15 hits this year. maryportfuncity 10,642 Posted June 2, 2008 I'll confess to mixed feelings here. Impressed at an unfolding classic year for the list. Bit sad because I rated old Bo and thought him mightily under-rated. Just set the stereo for 'turntable' and dusted off both volumes of the Chess Masters: Bo Diddley. 8 sizzling sides of Bo comin' up, or summat.

Death Impends 7,957 Posted June 2, 2008 Good job to DeathList with the successful pick of Bo, especially considering this is the best first half DL has seen to date. [i checked, and when comparing the success of the first six months of this DL to previous years, it has more deaths than any other year. The closest are 2000 and 2003, both with 8 deaths in the first half of the year]

Octopus of Odstock 2,186 Posted June 2, 2008 Bo Deaddly Damn, that's my not-so-original tagline gone for him on my DDP update. But I'll stick with that & a lame one for YSL because I can't be faffed to be too clever... I'm more surprised Bo was on the DL then I am to hear he had died. I was checking on his health only yesterday, and found nothing particulary wrong, so it just goes to show that research often doesn't make a difference & how random it is. Reports seem to say he had a stroke a few days ago - but then maybe with the Ariel Sharon situation that counts as "nothing particulary wrong" these days
