I knew Giles. We worked together for a year or so back in the 90s. A really lovely bloke. 

He was pretty well-known in his own right in musical circles.

A couple of days before his death was announced his brother posted on Facebook that he'd gone missing. So there might be a moderately more dramatic story behind it than just "died after a short illness".

A cursory Google tells me he had notability in South Africa horse racing circles as a trainer and was interviewed by a South African horse racing website a decade before his daughter's murder.

 

The newsworthiness of the Pistorius case might've been enough even without that, but yeah, I'll add him to LotM.
