Roy Glauber will be 93, not 91 at the start of next year. Got him on my long list.

A 'List of the Missed' addition, having been picked in 2017 (and possibly before), but not this year.

One of the living scientists I admire most. Well, behind Freeman Dyson of course....

Should be noted that latest winner of Physics (well, 1 of 3 to share the prize this year) Arthur Ashkin is currently 96 - and the oldest winner of the Nobel Prize.

Ashkin will not attend the event in Stockholm:

You might have to take him off that list. Various Twitter sources are reporting Glauber's death.

James Dewey Watson stripped of several honours - his 1962 Nobel Prize in Medicine not included - for repeatedly claiming that black people are genetically more stupid than white people.

An interesting titbit half way down the article:

Quote

...Dr Watson's son, Rufus, has since said his father was in a nursing home after a car crash in October. He said the scientist's awareness of his surroundings were "very minimal"...

Honestly depending on if he makes it to next year (and presuming on the number of hits this year), IMO he should be considered for the main DP - he's one of the really widely known Nobel winners for one of the sciences among the public, he's old, and looks like he's going senile as well.

Well, at least another DDP hit. The second one in 10 days. Really a dead year.

Tbf, February was an extremely busy month, so we’re likely just in a dead period.
