He coached the Norwegian National Team from 1978-1987, including at the 1982 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 1984 Olympics. He played for a variety of clubs including Hartlepool United (1969-1973), Carlisle United (1973-1976), West Ham United (1976-1978), Peterborough United (1978-1979), Chesterfield (1979-1983) and Doncaster Rovers (1983-1983).
