Spade_Cooley 9,525 Posted October 10, 2016 Manchester City cult hero Gerry Gow dead from lung cancer at 64. There were the generic "City legend battling cancer" stories earlier this year in local press and I had him inked in for 2017 based around the Curse of Half Man Half Biscuit (Gow is mentioned in "This One's For Now" off "Urge For Offal"). Spade_Cooley 9,525 Posted October 10, 2016 There's a partial list of those who've succumbed to the curse at the top of this page. Rob "one half of Climie" Fisher and Ettore Sottsass are both names who died between the tracks that feature them being recorded and released. May well provide a full list of survivors in my lunch hour if I get time.

msc 18,448 Posted October 10, 2016 Not HMHB, but Gordon McQueen gets OK after another cancer scare. Just about beat throat cancer in 2011, had a stroke last year, and only 64, he doesn't seem like he's planning to see too grand an old age at this rate. msc 18,448 Posted October 12, 2016 Willian tends to score quite often for club and country, which means he will keep dedicating goals and Brazil wins to his mother. To recap, her name is Maria da Silva (or "Zeze" for short), she has had an unspecified form of cancer for 2 and a half years, with 5 operations and at least one bout of chemotherapy, and now her "health condition has reportedly deteriorated over the past few weeks". Deathray 2,940 Posted October 22, 2016 A while ago I mentioned BBC commentator Mick Lowe who is BBC Radio Newcastle's primary commentator for the football. Just to update you that he's missed a few more matches for health reasons. He's been consistently missing matches sporadically for a while now so there's an opportunity for a long term health issue. No public knowledge though, might be an outside bet for next years less picky deadpools, could probably even swing a national obit if you're short.
