Tomb raider 9 Posted October 22, 2009 Nowt on PM programme Radio Four at the moment. Well-read Dutch news-site nu.nl was fooled by the Sky-scam. (The headline translates as: 'Lockerbie-terrorist Megrahi dies', obviously). The inverted comma's indicate the doubtfulness of the claim, though, and the link doesn't reveal what it used to when it was posted. But I'd say it looks promising, with all these rumours. Where there's smoke, there's fire, mind! And what's adding to the probability of Megrahi's swift demise: Libyan sources are reporting Al-Megrahi 'alive and well'. Alive he may still be, but I ruddy well hope not that the terminally-ill-massmurderer-released-on-compassionate-grounds is well and 'doing fine'...

Tomb raider 9 Posted October 29, 2009 in the past few weeks ronnie biggs and now megrahi have been released early from jail due to their health conditions - starts a dangerous precedent IMO [sarcastic mode] No, really? We completely missed that news! [/sarcastic mode] But exactly what is dangerous about the precedent? The two men are supposed to be on the brink of death, the only reason why you would deny a terminally ill patient a release on compassionate grounds is if your motive for locking them up is revenge. I find that barbaric. Deterrence and preventing more crimes should be our motives, and from that point of view, nothing is gained by letting these men die in prison. But actually, the only thing that interests me about Biggs and Megrahi is the 'dying'-part. Whether they snuff it in some dark Scottish dungeon or in a Libyan or (NHS-financed) British hospital bed, is not exactly adding to or diminishing the harshness of their verdict, is it? Perhaps someone will disable the traffic lights, hold him up, bash him over the head with an axe handle, pinch his pension money and hotfoot it to Rio. maryportfuncity 10,646 Posted November 6, 2009 Al-Megrahi is discharged from the hospital Any thoughts? The moment of truth, home to die is the obvious interpretation. Mebbe we'll be clinking pint glasses at DLConIII at the news that broke that morning. He could - of course - be stuffing a case with Semtex and sneaking it onto a plane. Tomb raider 9 Posted November 7, 2009 Al-Megrahi is discharged from the hospital Any thoughts? The links says that he has been treated in the "country's most advanced public clinic". I'm not sure about the standard of Libyan medical science, but maybe he's cured?

Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends. [/philosophical mode] Aah, they could use that quote in a movie or something, don't you think? lastorders 15 Posted November 19, 2009 if he survives a year do the scots get him back in some weird vice versa warranty expiration? And I hope the quack that diagnoised him with "3 months to live" sees me when I do my pension annuity medical.
