msc 18,437 Posted February 17, 2017 Steele is a DDP pick. He'll be needing to piggy back on all the stories about Bass - though as a HoF'er, he should get one. Also, Ed Wood.
Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted February 17, 2017 Would have assumed Steele was big enough for a full Reuters obit tbh, rather than having to wait on Brit-tabloid traffic-grabs

ebless 203 Posted February 18, 2017 Ivan Koloff dead at 74, not a good week to be a wrestler. http://www.topropepress.com/news/42610/russian-bear-ivan-koloff-passes-away-74/
drol 11,923 Posted February 18, 2017 Many others are likely to go. 1)Abdullah the Butcher (1941). Old, has kidney problems and diabetes, really overweight. 2)Superstar Billy Graham (1943). His liver problems are similar to Koloff's. He has 5 five years to live 5 years ago. Sir Creep's prediction that he would have died last october saved him from 2016, but now? 3)Big Van Vader (1955). He's exaggerating it in my opinion, but he may have some heart problems. 4)Bruno Sammartino (1935) Just too old for a pro wrestler. 5)Smith Hart (1948) Advanced prostate cancer. 6)Bobby Heenan (1943) Jawless, strokes and various bouts with cancer. What will be left of him? 7)Dave Hebner (1949) Seriously ill. 8)Jake the Snake (1955)He fought cancer and his heart has to be worn out from years of drugs. 9)Dynamite Kid (1958) He has a stroke almost every day. Surprised he's still here. 10)Kamala (1950). Fat and amputee with severe diabetes. A lot of possibilities for the Reaper!
the_engineer 1,415 Posted February 18, 2017 That's 4 noticeable deaths in 2 and a half months and 3 in 72 hours. Snuka, Nicole bass , Ivan koloff and George 'the animal' steele. According to Vader he is entering his last days aswell. Add Harley race ,lex lugar and a few surprise deaths and 2017 to wrestlers could be what 2016 was to celebs. Joey Russ 7,220 Posted February 18, 2017 Race's condition is not as bad as I made it seem in December. Funny that.

After watching Bruno's interview from last year on the WWE Network I feel confident in saying he just might outlive everyone on this list despite being the oldest. Bruno was already a top star in his 20's and was able to keep a lighter schedule and not have to deal with the physical wear and tear of his peers.
msc 18,437 Posted February 18, 2017 Yeah, Race is meant to be doing OK. Which is good, as he's a proper legend. I'd trust Superstar as far as I could throw him. Vader's more honest, for a pro-wrestler, imo, but pessimistic - let's see if DDP Yoga gives him some extra years. People who feel like next 4 year picks (not directly due to ill health): Iron Sheik, Adrian Street, Ole Anderson, Pedro Morales*, the Wild Samoans, Perro Aguayo Sr*, Bushwhacker Butch*, and Jesse Ventura. *All alleged to have some form of severe ill health. Mind you, ECW is starting to catch up with its alumni, so maybe it's time for folk to start health watching Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, Sandman, et all. Younger folk? Paul London's 37 this year and has got "random OD in his mid 40s" written all over him. Blue Meanie is 44 this year, has serious asthma issues, and his weight fluctuates heavily, prime HA candidate. And just how the hell did Masato Tanaka make it to 44? He wont see 50. A lot of time bombs are aging - Sunny (45), Joey Abs (46), Marty Jannetty (55). And then you get to the biggest time bomb of all: Mick Foley's brain. Whereas a bunch of the aging folk - Rene Goulet, Bruno, Race - feel like they'll be around for a while yet. There we go, a post full of supposition. I look forward in years to come if the forum and I am still around, to see this being as wrong as those 2005 posts saying "Jake Roberts can't have long left.." msc 18,437 Posted February 23, 2017 Johnny K9 found dead, aged 51. Enhancement talent in the 80s, turned out to be a hitman for the mob. As Jim Cornette, his former wrestling manager once put it: "Johnny used to seem like the kind of guy who'd really do anything for friends. It later turned out he really was!" EDIT - If I actually read properly, I'd note he was recently released from prison, considerably earlier than planned. Compassionate release, am guessing. Plaintiff Ronald Heard, a.k.a. Outlaw Ron Bass (“Heard”) is 67 years old and resides in Thonotosassa, Florida. Heard wrestled for WWE in 1987 to 1989. Heard states that he was hit in the head with tables and chairs, and had bumps performed on him on concrete. Heard suffered routine, repeated and sustained head trauma in WWE matches resulting in long-term neurological injuries and cognitive difficulties, including, but not limited to, headaches and migraines, dizziness, loss of memory, and sleeping problems. Heard has received royalties from the WWE in past few years of between and $50 and $100. Heard is currently on Medicare. That court document is going to be a great boost for deadpool punts. msc 18,437 Posted March 8, 2017 Going through that court document in greater detail - I posted skimmed over details a few weeks/months back. Since it was posted in 2015, 5 of the 50 wrestlers named on it have died: Jimmy Snuka, Chavo Sr, Axl Rotten, Ron Bass and Timothy Well. Here are the main issues they were said to be facing: 1. Jimmy Snuka – neurological problems, dizziness, headaches, depression, mood swings, loss of memory, confusion, post-concussion syndrome 2. Chavo Guerrero sr – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 3. Axl Rotten – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory 4. Ron Bass – neurological, headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, sleeping problems, fatigue 5. Timothy Well – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, suicidal, fatigue With that in mind, I had a scan for similar issues among the living 45, or multiple of the above issues, which brought up 36! So here are the main folk in that case, with their health issues as claimed. 5 in a year, so it's likely that around 15 of this list will die in the next three years on that form. I've asterisked those who will get DDP obits with no worry. The lawsuit will fail (there's too many discrepancies in it, plus it relies on Vince McMahon knowing all about concussions in the 1970s and 80s when no one else did, and hiding the information from the world) but most of these people are probably fucked. 1. *Road Warrior Animal – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 2. *Paul Orndorff – confusion, headaches, dizziness, severe loss of memory, fatigue, easily confused, repeats himself constantly, paranoid (yeah, hes got CTE) 3. Ahmed Johnson – headaches, severe loss of memory, under care of a neurologist 4. *Kamala – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue, plus depressed and legless 5. Earl Hebner – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue, neurological injuries and cognitive difficulties 6. Dave Hebner – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue, dementia, Parkinsons 7. *King Kong Bundy – neurological issues, cognitive difficulties, headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, nerve issues 8. Ken Patera – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 9. *Sabu – Severe neurological injuries, headaches, loss of memory 10. Barry Darsow – constant headaches, severe loss of memory 11. Bill Eadie – Headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 12. *The Berzerker – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 13. Johnny the Bull – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 14. Mike Enos – dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 15. Butch Reed – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, insomnia, fatigue 16. Jazz – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory 17. Slyvain Grenier – severe migraines, loss of sensation in right arm, dizziness, loss of memory 18. Don Leo Jonathan – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory (which might be to do with being 86!) 19. Shane Douglas – neurological issues, headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 20. *Mohammed Hassan – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 21. Henry Godwinn – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 22. Judy Martin – headaches, loss of memory, 23. Mark Jindrak – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 24. *Marty Jannetty – black outs, unaware of surroundings, headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue, no health insurance 25. Heidenreich – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue, suicidal, congestive heart failure, confined to bed, no health insurance 26. The Warlord – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 27. The Barbarian – headaches, dizziness, loss of consciousness, loss of memory, fatigue 28. Rip Oliver – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, insomnia, fatigue, Alzheimer’s 29. Tracy Smothers – headaches, dizziness, acute short term loss of memory 30. Mantaur – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue, painkiller addiction, no feeling in arms or fingers 31. Black Bart – headaches, dizziness, severe loss of memory, involuntary movement, heart problems 32. *Slick – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, insomnia, diabetes 33. *One Man Gang – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue, neck and back injuries 34. Jimmy Jack Funk – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 35. Rodney Mack – headaches, dizziness, loss of memory, fatigue 36. Boris Zhukov – migraines, insomnia, hearing loss, dizziness, loss of memory, works as a truck driver (well, that’s reassuring to know)
CaptainChorizo 1,977 Posted March 8, 2017 Of those you did not asterik Ahmed Johnson-Was in Nation Of Domination with "The Rock" aka one of the highest paid actors in the world. He will obit Darsow and Eadie-They were in Demolition aka the biggest tag team in WWE in the late 80's/early 90's Ken Patera-Olympian and 3rd place in The Worlds Strongest Man comp/off chance he could get Bockwinkled though And the Hebner's were part of the the Andre/Hogan "screwjob" feud going into WM IV Shane Douglas was "The Franchise" in ECW in the 90's Only a few of those like Black Bart,Rip Oliver,Judy Martin, Don Leo Jonathan and and maybe 3-4 others would not get a QO obit.
msc 18,437 Posted March 8, 2017 I know. There's only 3 or 4 I'd be sure they weren't getting an obit (Mr Oliver for one), most of the rest are quite possible depending on timing/mood, I only noted the 100% obits. Ahmed Johnson, though. January 1997, second hottest act in the WWF behind Stone Cold. January 1998, complete no name. One of the quickest falls from grace in wrestling history. Spade_Cooley 9,515 Posted March 8, 2017 Don Leo Jonathan could well get the Reuters obit you know, 60s/70s territory superstars tend to luck out there. Also Bret Hart says he's the second best wrestler of all-time. No prizes for who Bret thinks is #1.
