Not only the 'suitable lung' question, which is interesting for sure, but if he's had multiple transplants in the past, how would he have been a suitable top of the list candidate -- emergency or otherwise -- to receive said lung?  Isn't there a list or summat....?  If I'm COPD and this creep jumped in front of me, well......well fuck him.

If it was a medical emergency then he was likely put at the top of the list. I doubt they would have performed this kind of surgery if the chances of him dying were high so I am pretty sure he is safe for now. Him making it another five years is what I am worried about given his age and previous medical emergencies.

My brother was given his last rites when he was 2 years old and now he is aged 20 and perfectly healthy. I am pretty sure there's tons of cases of infants getting their last rites only to make a miraculous recovery and lead a full life.

And Marlboro and lung cancer - helmets off! Niki's kidneys have already been replaced. A Roboniki film would be great - why not use parts of Schumi as well (not the brain - it's Marty Feldman stuff these days - Do not use!). Would make a great movie. Of course James Hun't ghost would be Roboniki's mentor.

Lauda's condition has apparently worsened. His kidneys have problems, the doctors had to use dialysis catheter. Already before the lung transplantation his kidneys (both of them transplanted) were in no good condition.
One more problem is that Lauda's body has not yet adopted the new lung.

Update:  there are positive news again?

The problems are resolved, with Lauda had been removed the kidney catheter for dialysis. He no longer hangs on any devices. He also did the first physiotherapy and breathing exercises. He breathes independently and can already speak. He is still in the intensive care unit.
