Juan Manuel Correa is in an induced coma following the same accident that claimed Anthoine Hubert last week.  He apparently has ARDS, acute respiratory distress syndrome, as a result of the massive trauma.   ARDS has a 40% mortality rate.

You've got to respect any XI sufferers who can run around for 90 minutes every week, then: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ards_F.C.

The Observer yesterday mentioned that at an event to mark the 50th anniversary of his first F1 championship Jackie Stewart met three of his mechanics from that season (i.e. these guys are all still alive). Stewart is 80, the mechanics likely older. Obit chances outside of the Deathrace unlikely, right?

Since we're still waiting on a Robin Herd QO, I'd say so.

Fascinating...

here's the BILD report:

https://www.bild.de/sport/motorsport/motorsport/michael-schumacher-schumi-zur-geheim-behandlung-in-pariser-klinik-64528448.bild.html

Apparently, he's being treated by a heart surgeon, a specialist for heart insufficiency.

It's not the first type of secret treatment there.

Maybe Schumacher is heading for multiple organ failure?

If I were a doctor I'd just throw in a lobotomy. My brother and I used to toss lobotomy jokes until he was killed

Mike Stefanik, a nine-time NASCAR champion and NASCAR Hall of Fame nominee, died Sunday in a plane crash, according to the stock-car racing organization. He was 61.

According to Connecticut State Police, an Aerolite 103, single-engine, single-seat plane took off from Riconn Airport just over the state line in Rhode Island on Sunday. Police say the ultralight plane, while turning back toward the airfield, crashed into a wooded area adjacent to the airport in Sterling, Connecticut.

According to NASCAR, Stefanik was the winningest driver in the history of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. He won that circuit championship in 1989, 1991, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2006. He also won the Busch North — now known as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East — titles in 1997 and 1998. His nine overall NASCAR championships are tied with Evans for most in NASCAR history.

Stumbled on this, regarding John Andretti.  Kinda suggestive, but no corroboration evident that I could find.

He won [some local sprints and never did shite otherwise]...

@Skinny kiltrunner see there was some usefulness in the potential of your Legends thread.  This would have fit nicely.
