Also mundane cars like the first generation Volkswagen Polo, and Citroën BX. We had two of those. The closest thing to a Countach I would ever have....

Not many from the golden age of Italian car designers and engineers left now. Forghieri, Materazzi, Bizzarrini, Zampolli and now Gandini all dead. Giampaolo Dallara and Giorgetto Giugiaro are the only ones I can think right off the bat who are left.

Was going to keep this to myself but I doubt he'll make 2025.

Ted Toleman, founder of the Toleman team that completed in the early 1980's is now in palliative care and near the end of his life.

He is the winner of a more recent edition of the Dakar in the cars to die category, the most recent one before him was the Frenchman Hubert Auriol, champion in 1992, who died in 2021 at the age of 68. He was also the first champion of the Asia-Pacific Rally, in 1988, his successor is New Zealander Rod Millen (b. 1951)

I don't know what happened in the translation to cause confusion, but I meant to say that he won the Dakar in 1997 and no winner after that year in the car category has died yet

Sorry for the bad translation

Considering his age and past health issues, he seems to have made a good recovery.

Fred Gamble, former Scavenger Hunt pick, died last night, aged 92. There are two links, but both are bot sites.

FB posts from two very trusted sources are a better link for now.

https://www.facebook...hard.prince.311

Only appeared in 1 Grand Prix, back in 1960, but as his Wiki page shows his racing career was much more storied than that, including spells in charge of Goodyear in their early days of racing, working as a motoring journalist and having a long sportscar career.

Could've put this in the sailing thread, or the Hollywood Possibilities thread, amongst others, but ultimately he was a Grand Prix driver (briefly). Bruce Kessler has died at the age of 88. A long life, well lived.

As well as directing four Hollywood movies, he was one of the last people to see James Dean alive and his wife was actress Joan Freeman (who looks well in the last picture on the link)

Isn’t it Paul Goldsmith ?

According to a post on the Family Search ancestry site, Goldsmith died off-radar 2022.

His aviation website say he's living. I'd be surprised if he died without any notice, but I guess its possible. There is a Facebook post wishing him a happy 98th as well from the airport.

I'll do a full and thorough search tonight but in the meantime:

@Gisooo anything on accurint?

Paul Goldsmith was born on 2 October 1925, in Parkersburg, Wood, West Virginia, United States as the son of Edward Goldsmith and Maysel Geraldine Henderson. He had at least 1 son with Helen. He lived in Zanesville, Muskingum, Ohio, United States in 1930 and Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, United States in 1940. He died in 2022, in Griffith, Calumet Township, Lake, Indiana, United States, at the age of 97, and was buried in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Lake, Indiana, United States.
