President al-Assad of Syria

Assad's wife was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. She looks thin but I still don't think she will go anywhere in the next five years.

Israel has allegedly threathened to bomb Assad's palace if he doesn't cease or reduce military cooperation with Iran in his territory. Meanwhile Turkey threathens a military operation in Northern Syria

Surprised it took so long for him to land in this shit now his mate's busy elsewhere.

Rebels have launched a "massive offensive" against Assad

Social media reports say they're only a few kilometres from Aleppo.

After taking Aleppo and Hama the Syrian rebel forces are already on the borders of the Homs Governorate as it is being reported that they have now entered Salamiyah without a fight.

The Assad government might be coming to an end after the fall of Homs:

https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cwy8xzxe0w7t

Iran wants to send missiles. Apparently, the Russian support isn't strong enough.

In a way, on a very small scale, this is like a 3rd world war, but the West has refused to fight it. The Russian forces can't attack Ukraine and defend Syria at the same time.

For some reason, Russia has decided to always take the opposite stance of the USA and the West. So there's this Russia/Iran alliance in Syria and Palestine. North Korea supports Russia in Ukraine. The way to beat Russia would have been to spread their forces thin. Russia decided to do this escalation, and the West didn't want to accept that this is a hybrid war.

I have been thinking about this article that says that for the USA Ukraine is not a game war, but just a crisis to be managed: https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cwy8xzxe0w7t

Anyway.... I've wondered if the Biden government would manage some last minute action, and it's interesting that the possible fall of Syria happens at this time. But then maybe the rebels knew that they had to act fast, because once Trump is in office, Russia can divert forces away from Ukraine, unless Europe starts supporting Ukraine more.

Rebels have allegedly captured the city of Talbiseh, Russian Telegram channels report. It is only 10-12 km from Homs.

Some reports go as far as saying that Syrian opposition forces control the entire northern countryside of Homs, and have just taken control of the town of Al-Dar Al-Kabira, which is six kilometers away from the center of Homs city

Mass uprisings in southern Syria in the provinces of Daraa and Suwayda.

Some interesting pictures emerge from the rebel-controlled Assad residence in Aleppo.

A Ceaușescu-style Christmas in store for Bashar and Asma?

The pace of updates is nuts, rebels are reportedly approaching Damascus from the south. Statuses of Bashar’s father are now being toppled within 8km of the presidential palace in Damascus. Government forces withdraw from Darayya city in Damascus countryside and rebels were also spotted in Moadamiyet al-Sham.
There is a video, shared by Russian Telegram channels, that allegedly shows a crowd tearing down a monument to Assad's father in Jaramana, just 4 kilometers from the capital. Law enforcers and officials are reported to have fled the city.

I agree. Also shows how poor the analysis from "so called experts" on the BBC, Sky etc has been about this – all of them were saying months, maybe weeks, and it's looking as if we're merely days away from a total takeover.

Question is going to be will Assad get out safe, or will he go the way of Colonel Gaddafi? My hunch is on the former but the whole thing is an absolute mess and happening so fast that I wouldn't rule out him being killed.

This has Kabul-vibes in terms of speed and ease of regime collapse.

There have been reports on social media that that the Assad family might have already left Syria but nothing concrete.

Rebels have started entering Homs, from the North and East according to Reuters. Syrian Regime claims Assad remains in Damascus. If that is the case, I suspect his corpse will be paraded through the streets by next weekend, as his window of escape is narrowing.

Syrian Rebels claim to be at the suburbs of Damascus.

The Syrian presidential office spokeperson has now said that he is still in Damascus.

Personally I find it hard to believe.

At the rate they're moving, I wouldn't rule out by the end of this weekend if Assad is still in Damascus.
