Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted April 7, 2012 I have just been reading about Andy Williams and thought I'd see if we had any info on him. He doesn't seem to have a thread yet but I noticed Windsor had him as one of his picks in his footer so I suppose his health issues are already well-known. According to his Wiki page, which cites Fox News, "On Friday, November 4, 2011, it was reported in the press that Williams has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. He is undergoing chemotherapy treatments in Houston and will then move with his wife to a rented home in Malibu, California to be closer to cancer specialists in the Los Angeles area." Any news since then? What is the survival rate for bladder cancer?
Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted April 7, 2012 LOL - found this while researching for this thread: "Andy Williams: 'People assume I'm dead'" "As for groupies and drugs, Williams cedes that he "didn't reject all the offers that came my way" and dabbled briefly with cocaine and marijuana. "I had more of a drinking problem. I wasn't an alcoholic but there were times when I was drinking and partying too much." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-festivals/6425091/Andy-Williams-People-assume-Im-dead.html

the_engineer 1,414 Posted April 7, 2012 I think Andy Williams might last a couple more years yet he seems to still have the desire to keep going and living . bladder cancer is not the worst type of cancer either.

Not the worst type. But if not treated early enough, it could spread to other vital organs.

the_engineer 1,414 Posted July 15, 2012 Sounds like things have taken a turn for the worse... http://www.express.c...ms-tells-family Sounds like a matter of days rather than months , if he lives though this year he is a cert for 2013 I think.

wildstorm 297 Posted July 24, 2012 Apparently the reports of his poor health are inaccurate. Such articles always seem to be released just before the subject matter dies. It's only a matter of time before I get my 5th hit of the year.

time 8,578 Posted September 26, 2012 Better get used to losing him.
Paul Bearer 6,095 Posted September 26, 2012 Damn shame. I remember watching his TV show in the 60's - 70's. He was always being visited by a bear looking for cookies. Well, to a mere kid at the time, it was funny.
Red Flag 84 Posted September 26, 2012 BBC My 7th hit of the year. Might just sneak into the top 20 of the DDP with this. Not that I like to gloat or anything. Also should close up the battle for the lead
Phantom 2,531 Posted September 26, 2012 Sad to see him go. Although on the plus side. That's my 8th DDP hit of the year. Not that I'm a likely contender to win, but I think I'm doing damn good for my debut year.

harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,683 Posted September 26, 2012 Just 4 points between The Living End and 'arry-Kiri with 3 months to go... This is as close as I'll get; the remaining nine laggards all seem well enough and DDT has three of the same picks. So my fate lies in the unlikely hands of Clerides, Funicello, Ginsburg, Jaruzelski, O'Connor and (DDT's own red herring, swallowed hook line and sinker like Drew Carey before him) David Cobham. Octopus of Odstock 2,180 Posted September 26, 2012 [This is as close as I'll get; the remaining nine laggards all seem well enough and DDT has three of the same picks. So my fate lies in the unlikely hands of Clerides, You can forget Clerides - I have him as well but failed to see that his surgery for cancer treatment was a "success". I remain 3rd, despite not picking him (Williams that is) as I didn't think he'd go as quick as he did), but the only way I'll win is if Mesrob Mutafyan II pops his clogs and the likes of Dora Bryan and co.finally give up their long fights against illness. Spade_Cooley 9,483 Posted September 26, 2012 I can still win if Lisa Lynch drops dead in the next three months. Considering she said last November she had "months to live", she's been well enough to go on holiday recently, but she has been in for a scan in the past few days so.... nah, I have no hope. Roll on next year and a heavy decision to make as to whether I go with her from Emmanuelle or the former chairman of Burnley as captain.
DevonDeathTrip 2,357 Posted September 26, 2012 I've managed to convince myself that someone in my DDP squad is going to die imminently, so I'm not that worried.
