How the fuck do Henry Wolf and Roy Holder not have QOs yet?

And what is happening over at The Guardian? Their turnover of obits has definitely slowed down.

Budget cuts I think. Obit’s cost money and don’t bring in clicks.

Amusing clip of Sher on the Dame Edna Experience in 1989.

screenshot-2021-12-03-at-16-42.png.35b6a7333306d3cba99f77c5556209ad.png

L to R: Sir Michael Gambon (1940–), Malcolm McDowell (1943–), Tim Piggott-Smith (1946–2017), Sir David Suchet (1946–) and Sir Antony Sher (1949–2021).

Gambon worth a punt in the DDP next year I'd say.

Just on gut feeling, Malcolm McDowell has always felt like one of those names that never get close to the DL because they die in their sleep aged 80 or there abouts.

Although back in 2016 I took a shortlist of 30 names I thought wouldn't see advanced old age on gut feeling and 25 of them are still standing! (Phil Spector, Bill Paxton, Dale Winton, John McCririck and Jimmy Hood the unlucky five, and only McCririck I translated into DDP points because he was public about getting ill about 9 months before he died!)

Anthony Sher was, like, an AC....TORRRRRR.

I will always remember him in The History Man where he got to bonk students and one of my all time favourite sex fantasies, Isla Blair.

Obviously, he did much, much more but I remember him in that because it was soft core porn on the BBC.:D

Gambon should be considered for the main list. I am considering him (and also Jean Marsh) for a place on my shadow list .

I too love a good sex scene! Love a bit of shagging!:D:P

But I also wish Hollywood and British  television channels would treat us more like adults and make some more of this stuff instead of watering  so many of these films down to certificate 12 or 15.

There was a time when cinemas had a steady  abundance  of exotic thrillers back in the days of Basic Instinct and The Specialist.

I long to return to those less tame more daring and risqué days!

I once sat about three seats away from Isla Blair at The Other Place in Statford while her husband Julian Glover was performing his one man show of Beowulf

Wasn't quite sure where to put this, but thought we were overdue a masterlist for British television actors so went through a list of UK TV shows of the 60s–90s earlier and singled out all the actors turning 90+ in 2021. Vast majority of these names will obit for sure:

*snip*
Jack Hedley (wiki, b. 1930) Colditz; Who Pays the Ferryman?; One by One
*snip*

Hmm.. is this a death notice for the Jack Hedley in today's Times?

Two problems – to our knowledge, Hedley was born in 1930 (so he'd be 91, not 92). Also, Jack Hedley was born as "Jack Hawkins" in Fulham, London in 1930 according to the birth index. He changed his name to Jack Hedley to avoid confusion with existing actor Jack Hawkins (1910–1973), but did he change it legally as well? Can't account for where "Snowdon" comes from. No middle name given on his birth record.

Yes you are right, it is so strange. I think that his birth year is 1929 after he died at 92 ???

Sir Antony Sher did a remarkable Othello a while back.  Perhaps the very best in-person appearance I have seen.  And I've seen batches of Cumberbatches and masses of McKellens.  I think the best comic role I saw in person was Rik Mayall as "The Inspector General".
