When will there be an actual scoreboard, Deathray?

Some point this year.

Poor answer for a "host".

You did read the tag-line when you entered, right?

The most efficient member of the DeathList has spent over an hour of his time looking at death dates and equating them to points, and he has come up with a scoreboard. I gave Deathray the opportunity to save his credibility as a host, but it seems he has no intention on doing that and has left me to present you with this scoreboard.

So here it is for those of you who are interested...

1st - Sir Creep - 432
2nd - CaptainChorizo - 393
3rd - Toast - 368
4th - Morbidkid - 358
5th - Rotten Ali - 301
6th - Book - 248
7th - Death Impends - 216
8th - Switch - 206
9th - msc - 177
10th - Whoam - 176
11th - The Unknown Man - 163
12th - maryportfuncity - 138
13th - gcreptile - 126
14th - YoungWillz - 115
15th - Shaun of the Dead - 43
16th - Bibliogryphon - 18
17th - JiroemonKimura - 13

Now as I warned Deathray, I may have cocked up somewhere. Therefore, you may want to double-check your scores just in case I have made a mistake.

Thank you, Dead Cow! Well done!

Cheers Dead Cow, I don't believe in taking credit for work that is not my own. To be honest I'm amazed you got it done in "over an hour".

Good work Dead Cow.

Now do we count the extra day in February? Because as I understand it I have 19 points for Yasutaro Koide (19 Jan) and 98 points for Blackjack Mulligan (7 April - 31+29+31+7=98) which gives 117.

I could be wrong...I dunno.

Yes, but subtract 1 for each pick because of this rule...

  • 1 Point for each day of the year that passes before your celebs death (if they die on the 10th of January you are awarded 9 points for example) up until the games close at midnight on the 31st December.

That gives you ((19 - 1) + (98 - 1)) = 115

Amen to that. Meh, his name is Fernando, I'll let it slide on Cinco De Mayo

Seen as Sir Creeps has decided to enter a set of conjoined twins, maybe it's time to have the conversation. And I thought my rules had covered everything...

Are conjoined twins one person for scoring purposes even when the existence of one is dependent on the existence of the other - for example in the Gaylons, who SC has entered, where they share a large number of organs? I'm inclined to count them as two separate people, as they are legally and in reality excepting the fact they are co-dependent, but this seems a bit of a grey area. Does anyone have an objection to this ruling which being made pre-emptively has the twins are still kicking at the remarkable age of 64?

I think it's fine as long as he's not over the limit of people in team.

Nearly Mid-Year Update.

Firstly, an apology for the extremely belated nature of this the first full update. I've been busy, still am but fancied a distraction at this stages. Firstly, thank you for the entries this year - without them there'd be no competition, a total of 17 teams entered into this years comp, continuing an upwards trend if only slightly. Below's the who you had when they died and the obits. Due to the way scoring works in this comp it is however still early days, with a death tomorrow being worth 156 times that of a death on January 2nd. Some absolutely massive deaths already this year including Muhammad Ali, Johan Cruyff, Prince and Ronnie Corbett, some of them caught by you some of them not. Some of the people you picked also have the most ridiculously small claims to fame known to man you barrel scrapers...

Also shout to gcr for what I believe to be the first hit requiring a foreign language obit with Wolfgang Schnur. It's certainly feels like more people have died this year...

As always, if you spot any screw ups let me know. Trying to apply the "showing my working out" to all updates rather just the end of year one from now on.

Yet again have to commend the level of research many of you have done. Your jobs must be boring as fuck.

Astounded I'm not last. Also astounded I have more available for the more spendy points for later in the year.

It's not where you start with this one. Cheers for the detailed update Deathray!

Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out. Also added an all time leaderboard to the OP included 2014 and 2015. Not added this years for obvious reasons - no-one this year would yet trouble the top two thirds of that leaderboard though, as would be expected. Need some big deaths late in the year.

I'll have you know it was 50% of the way to an amazing strategy. ie, no one dies till September time, then there's a wave of big points scoring hits to flood oneself to the title.

The only flaw was no one went in September-December either.
