charon 4,943 Posted December 14, 2018 The trees at the start Cat were barely moving..... Just goes to show aviators are shitehawks and sailors are the fucking men. Sure Bou posted afore about the old Ully-Stornoway ferry Suilven after it went to NZ. The next one from the same crossing, 8 hours for a 3 hour journey. A week or two afore I flitted to Lewis in 2005, the same time journey, took 13 hours. ........ Fuck. That. 1

Canaries? Cape Town? Jokes aside that looks hairy as hell.

Or as it's known in our house, "I'm away to work" As for aviation, NotW discussion tends to be along the lines of, "how does God keep them in the sky?"

What's the most hazardous civilian job? Don't know if that's still true but it has to be close. On a more fun but related note, I was in the pub with a friend one day yoinks ago and a local bigmouth who often went fishing on a lake was larging it about the poundage of fish he'd caught on his best day. Friend pipes up "I used to fish" so bigmouth immediately starts up with "well I bet you can't beat 44lbs in a day, what did you manage?"....friends answer - delivered deadpan "5 tons". That silenced matey for a while til he figured it out. Yeah, he was a trawlerman, from some Cornish Village that might or might not have been Padstow, I forget.

Generally the GOM (er... Gulf of Mexico) is forgiving, but even if it's 10-12' waves you get knocked around enough (hard to imagine 20+). Then you have the luxury of standing on a rope basket and hang on as you're hauled 80' upward to the platform deck lol. You'll hold on tight yes you will. Sir Creep 7,069 Posted December 25, 2018 Sudan's main opposition leader Sadiq al-Mahdi on Saturday blamed "armed repression" for the death of 22 people in days of protests over the rising cost of bread, although officials gave a lower death toll. A government decision to increase the price of a loaf of bread from one Sudanese pound to three (from about two to six US cents) has sparked demonstrations across the country since Wednesday. ----------- Now that's damn funny. Are you not entertained? Protesting and dying for a US nickel? These fuckers would go ape shit if they got a hold of our junk mail coupon inserts.
