Estuarian Float 97 Posted March 6, 2014 Survivor contestants and MadTV comedians. Just kidding. No one would get a state funeral from me, because everyone is just as special.

maryportfuncity 10,654 Posted March 6, 2014 There are people in Scotland trying to organise one for their whole country, other than that I'm also of the opinion that we're of equal importance, so state funerals are something of an abomination to that ideal.
maryportfuncity 10,654 Posted March 6, 2014 On a related topic...I know a journo who found himself working on a local paper for a really right wing editor. When a bloke with a very - ahem - foreign name died locally my mate and a colleague pulled out every stop to gather loads of information on the guy, big up his achievements and make him lead obit in the next edition. Their equivalent of giving a state funeral to the person their editor would least want to see in that position.

Maybe you should just take a look around the internet for a few minutes and think about whether you want to re-assess that claim? Yea there is some bad things out there but also some good things too. I highly doubt savile and others would of been called to task and there was some justice without the internet. I think the internet has opened alot of people's eyes some for better some for worse. Afterall knowledge is power and the internet gives everyone that power at the tip of their fingers.

En Passant 3,742 Posted January 16, 2016 Nobody, and for the same reason as Mary and EF. NB. Didn't they try and curve ball us about this elitist by birth thing by handing out gongs to milkmen and the like to show how egalitarian it all was? Instead of taking the logical option and binning the whole thing.

msc 18,479 Posted January 16, 2016 Winton was all about the immigration to the UK of refugees on humanitarian grounds. He died whilst David Cameron's government was trying to take a tough stance on the immigration to the UK of refugees on humanitarian grounds. Regardless of the situations, comparisons would certainly be made.
